I bought a cmoy and disliked

I'd advise you to stay away from the AD825/827 unless you know for sure they are genuine. It's been 5 I buy from ebay and all of them were fake. Also, which Cmoy do you have?

this is the only one I have, but I found that discouraged me so bad

That is strictly the bare minimum of a Cmoy, give this a try, it should be quite better :

The Opamp is mounted in a socket, so you can drop a good OPA2132 in it and call it a day.

If you haven't noticed, you need a bit more than a 9V battery for those OPA2604 cmoy. So if you haven't tried so, you can use 18V and see if it improves or not.
