I been off from head-Fi for a while due to the satisfaction from my portables.
Then, several weeks ago Sony announced the PFR-V1, which stirred up my interest. I haven't bought a headphone in a year, so until today I had my heart set on buying it.

Then today Audio Technica announces this:

An high end portable AT woodie! Could this be the one?! Can this can trump the K181 or the Blue Dragon HD25?
Which of 'em should I buy!?

Sony's are $480.. I like the looks of the AT's though.. not sure how the Sony's sound.

I would agree. They both use EW9, so it shows some similarities, although I cannot comment on it.

They do indeed look very good. If they option them out to the US, I may have to try a pair myself.

Very nice looking. I've never been a fan of AT's wing headband. I had a pair of AD700 and though I liked them, I just couldn't get used to how they felt on my head. Now a higher end model with a more traditional headband design is very enticing. I wouldn't mind getting back to the AT sound.

Really? Specs seem different though. According to AudioCubes the EW9 has response of 14 - 24k and impedance of 29 ohms, but the ES9 has a range of 5 - 35k with 42 ohms impedance.
