My portable rig: Sony D-EJ725 PCDP -> CDs with Ety EQ -> Sony EX70SL (3-tip)

About the EX70 to Ety EQ:
Moving the EX70 up from 2nd position behind ER6

About the ER6 brochure...

Etys vs unmodded EX70's with Ety EQ

Realistically, as good as the EQ may be, the maximum estimate of the sound quality of the EX70 with Ety EQ can only be somewhere between that of ER6 and ER4 (and you're probably right even if you say that the EX70 with EQ can't compare against the ER6

)

But I've always found the EX70 with EQ to sound great even in my portable rig. Just last night I used it for music before going to sleep--usually the time for my most critical listening sessions. The rig held up even under critical listening (although there were other occasions when I could definitely hear clipping when the batteries were running low)

Now, running both out of PCDP->Porta Corda, I've always had trouble deciding between using EX70 with EQ and HD580 even when I could plausibly use the HD580...

These days using the HD580 is becoming more and more implausible...

Because summer is approaching, and summer here is 25 to 30+ degrees Celsius, so that I always have an air conditioner or fan buzzing next to me...

And the HD580's are open cans...

Huh

In my case, even the most expensive headphone is useless for most of the time. It's so hot here around 36C, and there is no way to avoid sweating if there ain't any air conditioner or a table fan buzzing directly at my face.

That's dynamite? I thought that said "Headphones are toxic."

I live in Texas.
You think you know hot.
You do not know hot.

Satan used to live in Houston. He relocated to a place with better weather.

We have central air here. Get some.

I know what you mean, it sounds like the wailing wind at the end of the last ice age and the beginning of apocalyse

Except when you turn on the music you usually don't notice it
