Looking at two music servers to feed my MS - Wyred4Sound MS and Antipodes CX - does anyone have experience of either one?

Save yourself a bunch of dough and get yourself an i7NUC running Audiolinux.
It can be powered by an Uptone LPS 1.2.

If you are not computer literate you can get Larry to build you one at;

What connections are you all using for the MS - DAC / Optical etc?

Has anyone reviewed or commented on the sound improvement with DAC's other than Chord?

I did. I mentioned before while I waited on my TT2 order I used the Mscaler with a Schiit Gumby. Oddly I noticed an improvement with the Mscaler in the chain but noticed no difference with any of the upsample settings including bypass. It probably is only going to work well with Chord dacs.

For those who don't read German, very high praise here as well as from Austinpop over at CA.
Austinpop's review is a model of its kind in many ways. This one on the other hand is a but more typical hifi mag type of review where at least I miss some imho important things that ought to be included in a review of equipment on this level.

Not as comprehensive as Austinpop's review and the reviewer did obviously not have access to speakers or headphones of the very highest quality as Austinpop did.

But still worth reading and like the model review from CA, this reviewer comes to basically the same conclusions most listeners who have heard it or are using an M Scaler have arrived at, ie. probably about as good as digital currently gets.
Cheers Controversial Christer

Intended for or likely to be understood by only a small number of people with a specialised knowledge or interest.:L3000:

Advice needed: in the immediate future is there any reason why i should consider changing my source for my hms which is currently optical out of my imac running roon? i've thought about this from every angle and as it's bit perfect and galvanically isolated (optical) i can't see any reason to change. I considered an ipad pro roon end point or a lower cost streamer but the consideration falls flat everytime. surely optical from an imac with an inbuilt ssd is identical to optical from a server as long it's bit perfect which it is in my case due to RAAT. Roon's streaming protocol. with optical direct from my computer none of the RF issues that can affect usb matter. Am i very lucky to have optical out of my imac direct? it seems to be a high quality cirrus logic spdif out in the imac and apple have not cut corners with the imac's headphone amp/dac/spdif out being a media centric mac/computer. a little research to find these facts out concerning the imac's inner components. i always listen while sat in front of the computer.

Well, are you simply looking for someone to validate that theory for the sake of your wallet? :) I suggest finding a way to compare yourself, maybe a local dealer will let you do an in home demo on a high end transport.

Although you are using optical between your iMac and Mscaler, is there a possibility of ground plane noise from the iMac being connected to the Mscaler and H2 through the power supply connections? This is a question rather than a suggestion. I thought that Rob Watts suggested that his optically connected laptop was only truly isolated when it was running on battery power, ie not connected to the mains via its power supply.
