I feel with you mister😟 as i have a light form of tinnitis too, normally only hearing it in quiet places. Last year when i had a strong flu the ear ringing became long lastingly screaming loud and unbearable. When it just didnt go away, i felt my musical world collapsing and i desperately started looking for curements.

After a month it settled down to previous level to almost gone and boy was i happy. One must experience it to truly understand what its like.

I hope you find your silent peace and by means of a treatment or a miracle !

Thats more or less exactly what happened to me, I had tinnitus but it was low level but one day it started to get so loud I thought something neurological had happened, like blood clot in an area of the brain that is for hearing.

I could hardly hear, people said I was speaking louder but I didn’t think so, anyway my doctor sent me to the hospital asap and they done brain mri, also in the booth for audio tests and they told me there was nothing they could do. I would waken up in the morning and straight off it was loud, eventually it calmed down, however I will admit it scared me, as I genuinely thought I was losing my hearing.

This is probably the worst hobby for things like that to happen.

Dude, over the last month or so I’ve stayed away from music as no matter what I listened to it on, it was horrible, truly horrible, but it started when my tinnitus started getting louder and I’ve done nothing to cause this increase in volume and things sounding bad. I think it might be a symptom of my newly diagnosed diabetes, been diagnosed for a year but I still eat sugar and metformin, glimipremide and alogliptin altogether ain’t working for me, but neither is ramipril, sulfasalazine and methotrexate. I’m dying young and I can’t wait, hopefully it’s either in my sleep or a quick and painless heart attack. 😎

Maybe something to look in to if you think your hearing is getting worse and you don’t have an obvious cause to attribute it to. As diabetes is known to cause hearing problems.
Yeah, tinnitus is really frustrating. Thank you mentioning your diagnosis of diabetes. That got me to thinking about the blood sugar issues I’ve been dealing with in the past year. My diet is usually ok, although nothing great, but last night I had a dinner that was heavy in pasta. My tinnitus went from mildly annoying to quite loud. It was still quite loud when I got up this morning. As an experiment, I exercised more than usual. While my blood sugar is still higher than I’d like, the tinnitus has calmed down quite a bit.

I’m guessing that the level of tinnitus might be a good indicator of blood sugar levels getting out of control and some physical activity might be needed to bring it down. Going for a walk or a bike ride seems to help the situation. I’d be curious to hear if you have any thoughts about what might help here.

Currently own TT2 and M Scaler. Wondering if the Dave will give me more transparent sound.

Thank you,
To me it was a little brighter you could call it a tiny bit more transparant, myself went back to tt2+mscaler.

It is certainly not a day and night difference. That says more how good the tt2+mscaler already is.

You know something, I never ever thought about the level of blood sugars in your body could influence how good or bad ones tinnitus can be on any given day. I just thought diabetes made it worse and I never thought about if the tinnitus was controllable to a degree by lowering sugar levels. Meaning that by bringing blood sugar levels down, it would also bring the tinnitus volume level down.

So I’m going to write down my sugar levels after tests and opposite them the severity of my tinnitus at that time, and do that over the space of a few weeks or a month to see if there is a connection between high blood sugars levels and loud tinnitus, and low blood sugars levels and low volume tinnitus.

So thank you for your post, as I never thought too much about it after the ENT Department at the hospital told me that there was nothing they could do, they didn’t even mention what you have in your post, but your post has gave me hope and a new avenue to explore and I even though what you said is extremely obvious, I just never even thought about doing that.

Bro you have done me a solid, as if what you say works, the higher the blood sugars are = the louder the tinnitus sounds, I really will work to get my bloods down to the levels that they should be, between 4.5 - 7.5 mmol, as mine are usually in the 12 to 22 mmol regions. What can I say ? I like my sweets and chocolate too much and I just thought that I could eat the same as before because the 3 meds I’m on would compensate for it. Which sadly is not the case. 😭

If what you say works, I really will be owe you one. Fingers crossed that this may get me back to enjoying my hobby again, but many thanks for your post bro 👍🏻

Just to add, everyone here is obviously in to our hobby big time, so please take care of your hearing or your expensive hobby and it’s hardware may become useless to you.

1, Don’t listen to loud music using headphones or earphones and iem’s.

2, Don’t listen to loud music when sitting or standing next to speakers.

3, Hearing Damage usually isn’t immediately obvious unless it’s something extreme, so you might not notice you’ve damaged your hearing permanently until much much later.

4, Gently syringe your ears every few months with a gentle ear irrigating machine, it does not hurt and it’s only warm water that cleans the outer ear and any wax is removed. NEVER EVER use Cotton Buds or Q Tips to clean out your ears, as you’re asking for trouble by using them.

5, The most important thing is, if you notice a change in your hearing, or if your tinnitus is getting louder or you need to turn the volume up on your TV or music and you don’t know why, see your GP immediately, as whatever the cause it may easily be fixed, for example it may be a sinus or an ear infection, leaving it can cause permanent damage.

Ok Back on MScaler Topic

I would like to be able to move my TT2/M Scaler around the house off and on. I do this sometimes but fishing the power bricks in and out in my set up is the most annoying part in my rack. Was thinking maybe I could buy an after market power brick to make life easier. Anyone know where to look for something? Cheap is preferable. Was hopeful I could find something that doesn’t break the bank that is fine for secondary use. Btw I’m in the US.

Thanks!

@mchuckp, after initially venturing to move my TT2/HMS around the house to different locations, and even trying to emulate Rob Watts by taking them with me when traveling on vacation and business, I’ve decided that I’m not going to risk damaging the heart of my system by inexplicably doing anything that might harm them unintentionally. That being said both the TT2 and HMS are pretty solid, but both are staying unmoved in my living room for now powered by independent 15-16v Sbooster LPS units plugged into an AQ Niagara power conditioner.

If I was going to move them around using different power bricks I wouldn’t use anything less than an iFi iPower X low noise power supply for each because at $119 USD apiece they shouldn’t break your bank account. Yes the Chord supplied stock Chinese wall bricks do let you play music. I just don’t recommend using them unless you have to.

I bought two sboosters, for my hifi setup, and use the included one’s at my headphone setup, and all other cables are on both locations. that way it is only unplugging and connecting it again.

Hello,

Any feedback or suggestions with SRC-DX?

My current setup is SP3000 DAP > USB > M Scaler > Dual BNC > TT2

Thank you,
@tonyusa, I’ve had the AudioWise SRC•DX in my listening chain for three years and it is definitely a tweak to consider with a TT2/HMS combo.
