I bought it specifically for the optical benefits ie no electrical connection. Its good to know its not just me. Does the matrix ddc or any other usb powered ddc do 192 optical out?

So basically your saying there is nothing wrong with my unit the douk only does up to 96 optical out?? Even though they claim 192? many thanks mk
I have no trouble playing 192k. Try the optical cable that came with the TT2 or mscaler. Make sure it clicks in. I have had expensive optical cables and they have not worked past 96k but the Chord supplied ones do. Now if the supplied bnc's were better.......

I tried the chord stock cable no luck. Another member is adament his 2 douks max out at 96 on optical but he gets 192 with rca??? Doesn't make sense.

Great that you have been able to try both. I compared the optical, usb and bnc outputs from my antipodes k50 connected to the mscaler so no need for any optical converter. As it happens I preferred the usb output taken through a phoenixUSB and then converted to bnc with an src.dx (and by some margin). I tried to like the optical but with extended listening it lost out (I do not favour changing back and forth quickly for reliable final comparison although it is ok to pick up big differences if there are any). The ‘darkness’ of the background was the same with all outputs to my ears.

With your optical Ethernet I assume you convert it back to copper at some point. I found the device that does that to be quite important and some totally negate the advantages of optical by creating their own noise.
I use a sonore optical convertor and previously a 10Gtek. I use a ifi power supply. Either works just as well and I should have stayed with the 10Gtek and spent the $500 on music.

I own a Douk U2 and the supplied instructions specifically refer to 192k. I also have a Just Boom digi hat on a pi3 which is playing 192k to my older TT1.

Have you tried 192 optical out the douk succesfully? What other posters are saying to me is that their douk does 96 max optical and 192 rca even though douk advertise 192 for optical too?

Make sure the cable is seated properly at both ends. It should click in.

I have tried with many 192k files both local and from Tidal / Qobuz.

Cables are firmly clicked in. I tried kabeldirekt and chord stock. Im playing 96 out of douk optical fine but not 192 even though douk claim 192 optical. Another member told me his 2 douk units do only 96 optical and 192 rca only.

The Douk u2 does 192k, I use it and can confirm it works. It's likely the cable or the connections that aren't letting it reach that rate. This can be very frustrating, but try a few different types of cables. You'll likely find one of them will work.

I've tried 2 brands optical cables and could not surpass 96, but those 2 might be simply not good enough!!
Considered to buy a borosilecate cable but those cost way more and I had no certainty it would do better so I stopped there and using RCA instead.

TBH I got fed up with toslink connectors in general, even when snapped firmly in then they are able to wiggle and loose signal nonetheless.
It's the toslink hardware feeble connector that is not well designed, old technology, has caused me raising hairs. Done with it.

C'mon, it's a 96 design (48 according to wikipedia), what do people expect?
It might do better, just don't take it for granted. And if it does you're working at limits and that's not particular signal friendly.

Yea it's too bad toslink wasn't updated to support higher rates. It's the ideal way to transfer digital music, imo. True isolation between devices.

Im getting 192 now with mr douk. Longer usb cable less pressure on chain. Marvin Gaye 192 roon qobuz sounding excellent no more distortion. Lets see what if it stays. Douk does do 192 optical and sounds like a unit costing hundreds. Excellent. I was focusing on the optical connection to the mscaler and after nearly giving up a small adjustment on the douk optical connection sorted it it seems so far so good.

I have an SMSL one and the Douk one, and I swear the Douk sounds noticeably better! Could just be in my head though.
