has anybody tried removing the foam layer that covers the drivers (ie. like the Sennheiser HD600 mod)? how're the results?

for that matter, the HP890s have another white, papery thing covering the drivers as well (compared to the Senns' drivers, which are bare, once the foam layer is removed) anybody tried removing that as well?

thats THREE areas begging to be modded with.

Why hesitate?!

Seriously: I would only do things which are reversible anyhow – if not with the original components then with a passably equivalent substitute.

I removed the foam that covers the grilles and the cloth covering the drivers, but there doesn't seem to be any discernible difference (at least to my ears).

I haven't tried removing the paper covering the drivers 'cause I'm not so sure whether it'll make a difference.

Please do let us know if you discover anything interesting in your modding adventures.
