well i have an ANNOYING problem, when i enable the cd-rom in my sound properties, it makes an ANNOYING sound like slight hissing, wirring noises.. not noticible unless your not listening to anything on the computer and its just silent; but still annoying.

how would i fix this? can i put something over the cd-rom cable or something to isolated from outside disturbances?

thanks

I had a similar problem with my soundcard (SB Platinum) once with the CD-ROM- and once with the line in. The CD-ROM input is quiet now (don't know why), but the line in makes some perceivable noise if it's fully turned up and not muted. I just have one solution to offer: use the digital CD input if there is one. It's the better alternative anyway and shouldn't hiss at all.
