How to make my speakers sound better?

A dedicated sound card will improve the sound quality but not too much. You might end up buying THX certified speakers (i.e. PM 2.1, PMU 5.1, and Z5500) or a set of entry level Hi-Fi stereo speakers to really see the difference.

My price range would be $200-$300
