Knowing that the Stax amps are a weak link, also consider keeping your eyes peeled for a used KGSS as others have suggested, and pick up more of an entry level pro-biased electrostatic headphone. Then, if/when an O2 comes up after the new model is released, you'll have an immediate upgrade path, not to mention a spare pair of headphones for when you are not quite clean enough to wear the good stuff (hope that came out right...; I don't wear my good headphones if less than, um, fresh...)
I bought a pair of SR-003s, which are an inexpensive electrostatic earphones, to test a mod I'm considering on a transformer (not use my HE60s to test with). Out of the KGSS, even the SR-003s surprise the living shirt out of me. Midrange, bass, detail, and completely musical. I can only imagine that something like a used 202 or 303 would be very musical. Perhaps others will assist here.
Be a nice stepped approach to electrostatic bliss (or madness, depending on whom you ask).
