How many songs do you have in your music library?

I have about 1,8 TB of FLACs and about 1 TB of ALACs in my old collection. Generally it should be more than 100k compositions, but a lot of them are duplicated or even has 4-5-6 versions. So in reality is much less. About 2/3 of this I estimate I never heard yet. I'm going to make some order and simplify my collection, eliminate duplicated things and delete all I'm not going to listen in the next 5 years.

I have 3 big blocks of music which divided for 7 genres each - Rock music (Classic & Hard Rock; Progressive & Art Rock; Metal; Alternative & Punk; Russian Rock; Folk-Rock & Pop-Rock; RnR & other Rock), Instrumental Music (Classic & Academic; Jazz; Blues; Opera & Vocal; Soundtracks & OST; Folk & Country; Modern Classic) and Modern music (Pop west; Rap & RnB; Reggae & Ska; Soviet & War; Electro; New Age & Relax; Other genres).

I'm up to 1,956 songs on my laptop now. That's 6.9 days, 19.70GB of all 320kbps mp3, and 256kbps AAC.

I still have about a dozen albums that I haven't ripped onto my laptop yet, ones I just am no longer interested in.

I also use MOG, so that makes my library about 15 million songs larger.

Haha i could say the same, have about 3000 songs now , and i collect only singles(well my playlist is only singles) , so if you put into account if i kept all of the ripped songs(the whole CD) i would have about 40000+ songs

Lemme check lemme check... 2961 FLAC files as of today. Which is summing up to an astonishing 83.4 GB.
If you'd listen to all those songs you would be non-stop listening for over 8 days, 5 hours, 34 minutes and 42 seconds.
I also have maybe 1000 mp3's in total. (Deleted alot of them some time ago)
But Flac is important.

Just made an account to post in this thread lol.

I have a total of 44,000+ MP3s and FLAC files (447GB, 18 weeks+ of music) with ~around 8,000 duplicates files .(need to clean those up)  80% are 320kbps MP3s LAME codec ripped from my CDs, 10% are 128-256VBR (Amazon.com, a few from iTunes) and 10% FLAC files.  Going to re-ripping the rest of my favorite CDs as FLAC over the next year...getting ready for some better headphones (HD650 or HE-500...maybe) and an amp/DAC combo.  Yes, I am now hooked.  =)

Just by upgrading my iPhone earbuds to Klipsch Image S4i II IEMs recently made me realize how much I was missing.  I can only imagine how good FLAC files will sound on an HD650 through an amp and DAC.  Good things ahead for sure.  Now just to decide!  New post coming for that.  You've all be forewarned!

Welcome to Headfi, M76NYC.

I suggest getting better recordings or headphones instead of re-ripping to FLAC. 320 Kbps mp3 LAME is very very close to flac, unless you are using Stax headphones and listening MFSL or Chesky. Most people, including myself, may not be able to tell 320 Kbps mp3 from flac. However, most people are able to tell an audiophile recording/mastering from an average recording.

Hi everybody...my first post here at headfi!  I have 2 itunes libraries...one lossless and one mp3's.  I back up both of my libraries on external hard drives.

The last few months i've been getting into 24/96 hi resolution audio files...vinyl rips, HD-Tracks....etc.

I actually keep a backup copy of my mp3 library at work to listen to while i'm working (which is where i am now)

MP3 Library:   40688 songs - 271 GB

I'll have to check my Apple Lossless library when i get home.  There's about 2 GB of music on there i believe.
