Guess what. I love this pie so much when I was in Amsterdam that I am going to try to make it today. Wish me luck!
I visited the shop twice.

Pretty soon it will be time for spiced apple cider, too. I seem to remember posting a recipe for that somewhere in here, which would be good because I kind of made it up from an amalgamation of different recipes I'd read and I don't remember exactly what I did anymore.

EDIT: Yeah, here we go:

Dutch Apple Pie (Appeltaart)
I assembled the pie.
I baked the pie.
Now it needs three hours to cool before I cut into it.
I'll keep you posted.

I forgot the whipped cream, but who cares.
Pretty good, but not as good as the one I had in Amsterdam, damn.
I'm still happy.

I thought it was a regular deep dish apple pie from the first pics but it's a ginormous apple cake!
Lots of cinnamon and a mug of latte...

Lobster and a massage for the high rollers, looks tasty!

Tomatoes are in full supply at the markets, I bought a basket and made fresh tomato soup today.

Lobster from the fiords of Southern NZ cooked over charcoal.

I've never had smoked lobster. In fact, I've rarely even cooked lobster myself. It's rather expensive where I live, so it's a once in a blue moon thing.

I grill lobster a lot in the summertime, it is kind of dirt cheap here where I live. I prefer grilled over steam

I thought that too when I first had it. Everyone talked about the apple pie but it really is an apple cake. At Café Winkel 43 in Amsterdam they also have golden raisins in the mix. Very few but it is in there. Also, I weighed the cake after I baked it--it weighted in at 4.5 pounds--almost 2 kg!
