I have a 3g, 4g and the 160 classic. The 3g has bedroom dock duty, the 4g has car duty and the 160 does the personal gig. I keep the 4g battery changed for backup duty.

Well I've had at least 8 that I can think of from 3rd gen, 4th gen, minis, nanos, various 5th gens and now I've just switched to a 160gb classic. I haven't had a problem with any of them and if I did I can pretty much do the repair work myself.

None so far, but I might buy my friend's 4th gen 20GB monochrome. I replaced a screen on it, and I'll probably end up replacing the battery (it lasts about 5 minutes).

Getting them open is the hardest part. Other than that, they're pretty easy to work on.

Four, a 20 ghz, 60 ghz, 160ghz and an 8 ghz nano. The 20 I sold, the 60 was replaced once or twice and then they gave me a big credit toward the 160 because it needed to be replaced again and they were having problems getting one. The nano has been replaced twice i think and it still has the same glitch. I think of Ipods the way they think of them in the Apple store I'm afraid, that is that they are disposable players with a limited life. They are good players, esp out of the lod but I always get the extended warranty because otherwise you are sol. Glad I live a mile from the apple store.....I understand the computers are great for music but I find them not to be very user friendly, although some would argue that i am sure.....I had to learn them a while back for a professional thing and now got my wife a macbook because she insisted, pain in the a**.

Gotta admit though as daps go, I got a fuse and the battery died, only charge about a third after six months(got to take it back, has a two year warranty).

1G Touch, gave to GF
3G Shuffle - its around here somewhere ...
4G Nano - took it back the next day : crap SQ

By contrast, I have two Samsungs, a Cowon and an iRiver, and all get used at various times during the week. Still want to hear the current hard-drive iPod (6G ?), but the rest dont do anything for me.

100% apple fan...

I have owned a total of 6 iPod 5 or 5.5 gen and never had any trouble out of them in the past 4 years. My son has a 4G Nano 16gb for a year and is still great. Also owned the 1st gen iPhone and I never had any trouble out of it and have the 3GS on the way. Overall I'm very pleased with Apple and there customer service is second to none.
