Started off at around 10/40 with Shures during the loud commute, but slowly forced myself to get used to 5/40. At work it's fairly quiet, so I use 1 or 2 out of 40. I tend to be a little paronoid about hearing damage, so hope what I'm doing helps.

X5 + E4 = Used to listen to them at around 25 average, 28 for pretty darn loud music

X5 + UM2 = Around 16-17 for average listening, 20 for loud

well one of my friends wanted to listen to my music, so i let him have the X5 and UM2 for a few hours, the guy was listening to it at 27-30 the whole time, thats damn loud for my ears, can high volumes damage the IEMs in any way?

UM2, 4 out of 10 normally, 5 out of 10 on the subway and other noisy environs. This is with a 4G 20GB iPod.

BTW, this is when I'm playing replaygained MP3s, so non-RG'ed music would be playing at lower volumes...

Outside, I use my ER-6is at around 14-16 out of 25 on my Zen Micro.

in a fairly quiet room, i find volume 1 on my karma to be too loud, and even the lowest volume setting on the ipod (you can't even see any grey color on the volume bar) is too loud.

Zen Touch + ER6i ~ 17/25 for most music 20/25 for stuff like Tool (its strange, but their music doesn't sound right at low volume).

Zen Touch + SF5Pro ~ 13/25 anything higher and my eardrums would pop.

I guess you can go louder with any more efficient headphone...

I never go over 50% on my 4G iPod with any IEM (ER6i, E3, E4, E5c) I had... most of the times I play it at 25/40%....
