Hi, everyone.

I am considering of buying a second-hand DAC, which has been used for more than three years.

I am just wondering how long will a DAC last in normal case? Would it be well for 5+ years?

Thanks.

It really depends on the build quality, but most audiophile gear is well made.

Also, DACs don't usually run at high temperatures, which is the enemy of electronics. Heat kills a lot of components.

If you do pick it up, open the case and blow out the dust. Compressed air is good, but you might also want to pick up a 20¢ brush at Home Depot and get all the dust out. Then when you run it, make sure it isn't stuck next to a high-heat component. Give it some breathing room and cool air.

That might be slightly overkill, but you'll maximize the lifespan, which could be a very long time.
