I've never had any of my phones break, crack, tear whatever. I take extremely good care of my equipment.

I haven't broken a pair yet. I've had the HD-650 for three years, am listening to it right now, and it's still about the same as when it was new. I don't see them deteriorating any time soon.

The longest I've had a pair was seven or eight years. That was a pair of Sony MDR-V6. They held up beautifully and I passed them along when I got the Senns. Last I heard, they were still in regular use.

My HD600s' headband snapped after 18 months of very careful handling. Ungrateful bastards. The HD650 is about half a year old and isn't showing any signs of wear or aging.

it seems that the majority of our headphones are suspended in a magic substance. I know mine are!

I am poison to headphones, they usually last a few months before a cable breaks or something else goes awry.
