How good is audio quality on Galaxy Note?

Many people complain about the low quality dac in galaxy S2. Does the note share the same problem?

Thanks for your answer. I did suspect that since Galaxy note has the same infamous yamaha DAC than Galaxy SII but on gsmarena they say "note has excellent audio output" or something like that. So I wondered if that's really true.
Too bad that a device which costs 600$ sounds like an FM receiver.

must get a 3rd party music player app or use the equaliser app to flatten the bass and treble booast that are inherent in all android devices. once that is done, the Note is a very euphonic sounding device with a very expansive soundstage. please note EU Notes sounds terrible because of the volume limit. Asian Notes sound much better.
 
the Note sounds much better than the S2. no idea why? besides much larger battery?

Good is relative.  If your standard is an iPhone 3G, then the Note will probably sound fine.  But it's both noisier and further from creating the illusion of a soundstage than a 4S.  For me, this is a non issue, as even the best phone headphone jack is a ways off from listenable.  Hopefully the Cyanogen 9 OS will incorporate USB DAC support, eliminating the sonic shortfall the Note and every other phone have.
 
I've had my Note for about two months now and I absolutely love it.  If your hands, pockets, & lifestyle work well with the large size, I don't think there's a better phone available.

I had the chance to try it for a day with my own files and i'd rate the headphone out as good but not great. (I tried the european Exinos 3G version)
 
It had a low enough output impedance to drive properly (frequency wise) my Westone UM3x. No volume issues with these iems but i suspect that with not ultra efficient iems and high dynamic range material maximum output could be too low. Compared to my iPhone 3GS the Note lacked the huge amount of space that the iPhone provides to the program it renders.
 
Anyway i finally steered clear from the Note and returned it not because of the headphone out but because of screen issues and the lack of a true line out (Which is a must in my book) to connect it properly to speaker docks and headphone amps. This alone kills the musical ubiquity that the iPhone manages to have.

The sound quality of the Note is the same as that in the Galaxy S II to all intents and purposes, being that it is the same DAC in play here. You can double the loudness though with the app Voodoo Louder (from supercurio, the guy who made the amazing Voodoo Control for the original Galaxy S), which means you'll be able to drive less sensitive headphones with it, so there is some improvement to be had.
 
Agree with the above poster, if you can handle the size I think this is the best phone out there right now (although not from an audio perspective). Other than my review the only other one I've seen worth reading is GSMarena's one (they pick up a far fewer flaws though, probably because they're not truly using the phone as their daily driver like I do).

The quality is not the same since the Note 3G has far less output impedance than the Galaxy S II. Thus for balanced armatures the Note fares audibly better. What the Yamaha provides equally is the 0.06 IMD+Noise. Which is just average.
 
The SII is bad enough the leave my Westone UM3x with little to none bass. Thats not the case with the Note 3G.

I disagree that it is the same as the GS2
 
and not just disagree but it is the fact that they have a very different sound output.
 
 
output Impedance on the international note is 3.44
and the GS2 has 11.23
 
This is a serious matter if you are matching your device with BA earphone.
 
Not only the impedance, there is a problem with whitenoise on the GS2 but not on the note.
GS2 also struggles to provide flat frquency rating in most music files.
 
 
The note is byfar the 2nd best (1st GS3) smartphone audio device from Samsung.
Also ranks very high among most android phones.

The note as the same chip dac of gs2 but sound better and unamped to my hear sound better then my ipod touch 3g.
And yes the eu versiom has volume cap.

The Galaxy Note sounds far better with my UM3x or SE420 than the Galaxy S2. I guess because of the lower output impedance.
 
That's the nth proof that implementation is far more important than the dac used.
 
Unfortunately no Android nor WP7 device has reached the stunning quality of the iPhone hpo yet.
