How does smoke/pets affect headphones?

As for smoke and pets, I was going to comment, but it looks like just about everything I would have said has already been covered.

As for this one:

I enjoy a cigar on ocassion. I always go outside, and bring my dedicated "smoking rig' - my tiny iPOD shuffle, and KSC 75s for that gig. I can enjoy tunes (sounds great) while I enjoy the smoke. As for all of my other gear, it is babied and will never come in contact with smoke. I will not even put a pair of phones on my head after an outdoor smoke without first taking a shower and thoroughly washing and drying my hair first.

Stale smoke smell is VILE.

Well, cats are hazardous to all sorts of things. If it dangles, or even moves slightly, it is at risk of attack.

Smoking? Tobacco isn't the only thing people smoke, is it?

Like banana peels, cloves, possibly other things. Cheeto fingerprints aren't good for headphones, either.

Smell, smell, smell...
...and broken cables etc. by animals biting on them, or lugging them around...
