Title says it all, stupid question, I know, but it's been bugging me ever since I sent them a considerable  chunk of cash for my DX100...

Eye bass (as in fish , not low freq) oh

  3. nelamvr6
That's the way I was originally inclined to pronounce it when I first saw it.

Not trying to argue, but do you have any source to back up this pronunciation?  Anything official from iBasso?

  4. KT66
Well I am English, live in England and have a degree in English, I know the language pretty well.

Manufacturers can of course say it how they want to, but in English it would be a soft A, as in Lasso, or Lass or Mass

...and the other way ie BASEOO - just sounds silly

No offense, but iBasso is a Chinese company, it's quite possible that their name as it's typed in English is an anglicized version of their name in their native tongue.

As you mentioned, they can say it as they wish, I'm just trying to find out how THEY pronounce it.

There is a Chinese name to the brand, the name ibasso is a re brand name for export

Yes, this is certainly the English name. In Chinese the sound "so" does not exist.

  8. pekingduck
Not entirely correct...at least Cantonese has the sound "so" [IMG]
(iBasso is based in Shenzhen IIRC)

No idea how should it be pronounced correctly,
but my friends and I call them /aɪˈbæsəʊ/.
Maybe you should send them an email for an official response.[IMG]
