I am thinking of upgrading to some MS2I's and am wondering if it is an upgrade? I have never heard a pair of MS2I's so I am not sure if I will like them or if they are really better than my 225's.

I've owned the MS2i and a buddy had a sample SR225 some time ago.

No comparison, the upgrade would be immense. The MS2i is much more detailed and prattier than the SR225. Soundstage isn't wider, but more precise. I found the SR225 to be something like a darker sounding MS1, very disappointing.

Wouldn't buy the MS2i if you dislike bright presentation though.

Brightness could be a problem. I don't like things that are too bright. That can get fatigueing.Bass wise how do they compare?

The SR225 bass is a bit muddy in comparison. The MS2 hits much harder. The sheer amount of bass doesn't differ much.

Which is brighter. The 325 or the ms2? Anyone know?

Ya, I think it is time for an upgrade. The MS2i intrigues me.

The 325 is brighter. The Alessandro phones have a more linear and refined treble.

The MS2i, atleast with tubes, is very alive sounding but not edgy or bright. The 225 was my main headphone from 1995 -2002. I have always liked the 225. But once I tried the MS2i .... no contest. The MS2i is a much better all round headphone. The only downside is comfort-wise the MS2i is noticeably heavier then the 225 and takes some getting used to.

That is one of the reasons I got my 225's. I knew my sr80's were very light so I figured the 225's were the same. Which they are. I should like the ms2's. The weight thing hopefully won't be that bad. I know I can't afford a pair of rs2's. Though, I would love to try some.I will keep my 80's(at least for the time being) and can have some grado and allesandro sound. Who knows. I may just convert over to the allesandro side all together.

Good point .... I only use flat pads or the yellow Senn 19545 pads with my MS2's. The sound with bowl pads is to thin and takes away much of the bass impact.

Before writing off the 325i as being too bright, check out the 325i Owners Club thread. I personally don't find them as bright or skull piercing as a lot of people in this forum say they are. That's also been said about the SR-80s...and you have those, so you know what I'm talking about. The 325is are as punchy and engaging as any Grado and they are very detailed with very tight but deep/controlled bass. Sources and amps can be used to tweak the sound, make it warmer while still retaining punch/kick that these headphones have.

I hate this. Everyone has their likes and it makes it so hard to decide.
