How do I convert FLAC to Apple Lossless?

I just used Xrecode II to convert a FLAC album to ALAC. The album started off as 24/96 and 833 MB. After conversion it was only 248 MB. If it's lossless, why such a massive change in file size?

Most likely it resampled it to 16/44.1.

Could someone please explain how to get iPod friendly lossless ALAC from FLAC using xrecode II?

From your previous post it seems like it was converting into 16 bit perfectly fine, which is the best possible for an ipod. 24 bit is pointless since the ipod DACs are only 16 bit capable.

Since someone else revived this thread I have to agree. I use dbpoweramp to convert flac to alac. Took me 18 sec to convert a 12 song album.

yes dBpoweramp works really good, just ensure you must download all codecs.

You are quite right that it will need to convert FLAC to Apple Loss to play FLAC file on iPod/iPad/iPhone. You will need one converter to help you. You may type how to convert FLAC to Apple Loss Less Audio in Google to find the guide you like. Hope it can be helpful. Good luck.

Most modern iPods play 24-bit music and sample rates up to 48 kHz.  My iPod classic at least has always been capable.
