I just used Xrecode II to convert a FLAC album to ALAC. The album started off as 24/96 and 833 MB. After conversion it was only 248 MB. If it's lossless, why such a massive change in file size?

From your previous post it seems like it was converting into 16 bit perfectly fine, which is the best possible for an ipod. 24 bit is pointless since the ipod DACs are only 16 bit capable.
