How do I control the volume of an Element III connected to an Audioengine a2+ via RCA cable?

Where should I set the volume knob on each device for optimal sound quality? Do I turn the volume of the a2+ knob completely up and then control via the Element III? What should I do? Thanks.

For best audio quality use the device at the end of the audio chain (A2+) for volume control.
So max out the audio volume's on the computer and Element III (sent a strong signal).
Or near max volume settings if max settings cause noise in the audio feed.
But if you just prefer to use the Element III for volume control, that's fine.
