I don't really pay attention when I'm driving. Its not like I'm gonna really pay attention and listen the music while I'm driving.

Someone likes Infinity, LOL. I used to have 2 of the Infinity Perfect 12.1 subs and they were very musical. [Dumb and Dumber]I liked `em a lot.[/Dumb and Dumber]

I just got the eclipse titanium 12... I built that box this winter with some buddies, we got confused and it's dimensions are WAAAY wrong, yet it sounds pretty good, and i relaly don't care right now : /

THe system is designed (and wired) so that it can come apart really easy when i want to race the car, and i can take it apart in less then 10 minutes almsot...
everything is bolted down to a wood board i made, and carpeted... really doesn't look clean and i lose a trunk.

I had to take apart the whole back seat to fix these damn rattles, it was a pain in the arse... Right now it sounds really good, i got my alpine m1000 class d running at 1000 rms 2 ohms stable, and let lme tell u, that titanium can SLAM, i mean my car can't even give it enogh current in it's guage (4 to the back) to keep this amp from cutting out, i haven't even maxed this woofer, yet and it slams so loud it's unbearable to me.

I've heard louder systems, but i'm trying to just get sound quality, and the mbquart front stage i have is definatly shrill, detailed, and LOUD.... It makes me think i'm getting too old for this stuff hehe. 150 x2 to the front components, rear doors aren't hooked up in this config.

Just started doing mine up, nothing too flash at the moment, but I'm sure it'll improve in the future!
biggrin.gif

Pioneer DEH-P77MP headunit
Blaupunkt CMS 266 amplified subwoofer

The standard speakers in the car are meant to be quite good. Perhaps in the future I'll get a decent 4 channel amp and maybe some bigger components for the cabine, oh and of course when that happens I'll consider some sound deadening for the doors.

Seriously tho, the actual surface area of the driver is pretty small for a 12"...

it was built for iasca? have you competed yet? if so, how did you do?

I used to be really involved in IASCA since about 1998 as both a judge for about 4-5 years including several Finals and as a competitor for about 4 years. But since I went back to school three years ago I just haven't had the time for it like I used to. Best I ever did at a Finals was 6th place 2 years ago but I have about a half-dozen wins at smaller events over the years. It was fun building and competing with the car but I'll prolly sell it this year to someone with more time and energy to take it to shows and move on to something new.

PBirkett...

The Fabia front components are actually pretty good, but they sound a lot better when amplified.

I've been powering mine with a Boston Acoustics amp since the weekend after I bought my car (June last year) and they're still fine!

I got to install the speakers in my brothers wrx, very fun tearing off the side panels of a car that he babies

he refused to pay for the proffesionals to install the speakers so i ended up doing it because he understands nothing about audio or electronics (though its not hard)

the look on his face when i got out a drill and made new mounting holes :P
i used the stock cabling (because hes a cheap ass and wouldnt buy good stuff) all speakers were installed with rubber washers between them and the door.

i put these in the back:

and these in the front:

he picked out the speakers though i think he could have made better choices. i find them very bright and almost shrill. bass is very loose but he likes it
