My i7-11850H struggles at DSD1024 (breaks every 2 secs) but not problem at DSD512.
You would need something around i9-13900K or better but it could also help If you have a NVIDIA card, the HQPlayer can take advantage of it as well by enabling the option "CUDA-offload" relieving some load from the CPUs.
my 11600 with no video card plays 1024 ok (with lighter filters and non EC modulators)
my 13900 with 3070 TI video card barely plays 512 with EC modulators and wont play 100% fine 512 if source files are 192khz (the max I get with qobuz, my streaming service) or if heavier filters are used even with non EC modulators.
Im not one who hears diferences among filters btw, but I would guess I hear a small difference among 1024 and say 128, maybe 256, and between the best/worse modulators

You have multicore and Cuda offload checked, not just grayed?
Redbook upsampling to 1024 with ASDM5 and 7EC Light 512+fs and AMSDM7EC 512+fs should be double with most lighter filters from ext to minring and even sinc-m, even with no external gpu on my 13900k and 32gb ram on Windows 11.
yes box checked I know how to check/gray etc, not rocket science (lol) and I played my share of fun with different settings
just wanted to add some perspective to @NoNameNPC 's question into getting to play 1024, I know this is a fair target for many... if he doesnt hear a difference for the better with heavier filters / modulators, maybe he can be ok even with a cheaper i-5.
Thanks for the tip! I have a Spring 3 in coming and I already have the iFi NEO Stream. This will be a nice new experience of using I2S as a digital connection.
This can’t be true? In my understanding there’s separate R2R ladders for both, PCM and DSD(?)
EDIT:
From Magna Hifi website:
”The DSD module of Spring3 does not use R2R architecture for the DSD, more specifically it uses a very specific architecture which is optimized to perform DSD to analog. So to be entirely accurate the DSD part of Spring is using resistor ladders, not R2R..”
I'm very impressed with the Spring 3 KTE. It looked big and heavy in videos and just oozes quality in person. Sadly, it didn't quite fit on my desk so I have it hidden away behind the desk. I love how it sounds so far, no complaints whatsoever. Took exactly 5 weeks to arrive.

Glad it meets your expectations! I held back from Holo DACs because the only I had access to was the May. Which takes up too much real estate. I am glad I came across this thread and I had ordered a Spring 3 KTE from AV One in SG. Big shout out to Jeremy for making it possible! Now just patiently awaiting its arrival.
Imagine my delight when Jeremy from AV One messaged me yesterday morning to let me know that the Holo Spring 3 KTE was in their warehouse and to check if they could deliver it today.
Big shout out to Jeremy and AV One for getting this to me so quickly. They were kind enough to bring it upstairs to my mezzanine level for me because I had hurt my back. The delivery chap even unpacked the Spring for me.
Now enjoying it. I2S from the iFi NEO Stream and USB from the Eversolo DMP-A6. Only thing that bugs me though is I don’t seem to see the i2S output as an option for the iFi NEO Stream. Wonder if I am missing something…

You're not missing anything. Just use the digital output setting from the NS for I2S. The NAA drop down option description in HQPlayer is also a bit misleading - I've addressed that in the Neo Stream thread. Enjoy!
