And wouldn’t MoOde now allow to stream directly?

Holo Audio Red Streamer

For liquid music the variables in play can be multiple. Personally I use roon with the Holo Red and I think that a notable final quality can be achieved even if the digital path of the signal, passes first from my fanless PC, then via the ethernet network enters the Holo Red and then arrives at the DAC via I2s interface. In my experience the Red connections are crucial, the ethernet cable and the I2s HDMI cable. As an Ethernet cable I use a fairly expensive cable around 800 Euros, while for the I2s I found a cable that costs 50 Euros to be excellent, it seems identical to the one proposed by the American distributor https://www.kitsunehifi.com/product/generic-i2s-hdmi-cable-0-3m/ mine is 50 cm long.Sorry for asking again. For best sound quality I somehow thought the streamer should get the data directly from Qobuz over the internet. That’s what I would call Qobus embedded in the Holo Red. Using mconnect would work indirect: Would the data been requested by mconnect and than streamed from my mobile device to the Red? This would likely lead to a reduced sound quality?

Is this an OS like Roopie? And wouldn’t MoOde now allow to stream directly?
Actually i use Bubble UPnP with Qobuz and i don't get higher sample rates than 44.1 kHz. I don't know why!? MConnect does higher sample rates.

I tried Roopie so far, but LED of the Red stays red!?Yes, it’s an OS.
As I’m still waiting for my Red I’m only referring to what I read. I hope that MoOde OS will allow my to directly stream Qobuz, Rigelian only used as control app.
I read that even the control software has an impact on sound quality, a user claimed JOlay sounding better than MConnect and Rigelian. How can this be if the red is pulling Qobuz data from the internet.

I just picked up a Red and got it yesterday.
Wow, is all I can say. I’ve had a Wiim Pro, Bluesound Node N130, and now the Red. I listened to my go to tracks. Moanin’ and The Search for New Land. I got more clarity, depth, and texture than ever before.
It doesn’t seem like such a small box should make such a big difference, but that is all I swapped out yesterday. I didn’t even put my Node away. I just unplugged it and slid it to the side. It made such a big difference, I really understood what I’ve been hearing about my Denafrips Ares 12-1 and I instantly thought I may have been a bit hasty on buying a Spring 3. I’m sure I won’t regret the S3, but it doesn’t feel like it is as much of a “needed” upgrade anymore.
I’m using Tidal connect. Set up was a bit of a pain, but not awful. This is the reason I bought the Node and not something like a Red to begin with. I had to sweep my net for the IP address. Typing in the url wouldn’t work. Tidal also glitched once, but I’m going to chalk that up to me and not the system.
System
Holo Red, Denafrips Ares 12-1, Benchmark LA4, Pass Labs 150.8, B&W 703 S3. Oyaide cables (XLR and USB) and plain (can’t remember name) speaker wire.

Hi, great to hear that you are happy with your Red. Hope to get mine soon. I already have a second SD card with MoOde OS to stream Qobuz direct and compare sound quality vs Red OS.
All of the sudden Spotify Connect doesn't work anymore streaming to the two Holo Reds I have, same type error.
Cannot pause or stop or rwd or fwd a song.
There is no sound, but play indicator moves on.
Songs start to skip on their own.
Total disaster.
Strangely googling on this type error more people had these effects streaming to their televisions even in 2022. And could not find a cure.
Of course I rebooted and reinstalled everything.
Contacted spotify advisors online, they look into it....
Anything familiar? Thx.

Warm reboots and power down and up cycles, didn't work.
But factory reset of the modem/router did the job

Does any one know what "I2S_DSD_On" mean??
I found it on holo red's manual concerning the I2S setting.

Unless you’re using DOP, the DAC has no way of knowing that the bitstream it’s receiving is PCM or DSD.

Anyone tested if original RED OS is receiving lossless Airplay 2 stream?
Ropieee have option to force Airplay 1 that should be always lossless, but I prefer original OS.

Hi, still waiting for my red but my Chord poly never sounded good with airplay so I wouldn’t bet it’s ok on any high level streamer.
