Hard to comment more since my experience with streamers is limited to Zen Streamer. Red always is noticeable when I open Roon. IFi Zen Streamer can be finicky about always showing up

And on a good note, so far the Zen Stream is showing up every time on my Core now that it is attached to my Ferrum stack/Yggy setup. Might have to do that with that i am now using one Roon Core with Red and Zen Stream rather than switching Cores at work and home. Not sure, but as long as it works and works well then all is good!

Apologies if this has been addressed.
I started reading this thread when the Red came out, but then wanted a change in my system so I went another route. IIRC as far as I remember reading in the beginning of the thread the Red can only be used as either a DDC or a streamer and can not be used as both at the same time, correct?

Will you be keeping Roon in your system? My intention for the Red would be to ditch Roon, and use the Red via Tidal Connect but I have not seen many people here doing that, most seem to be using Roon also and I am not understanding with it would be needed with the Red in situ.

Can anyone comment on the experience using Tidal Connect? The only reference to it I can see in this thread was about it being finnicky with versions of Tidal and so on.

I bought Red because of Tidal Connect. The old firmware had a problem with the recent Tidal app but now (as others also said) it works very good. Hovewer the last two firmware versions don't make the first MQA unfold, the older ones did. My second usage is UPNP, have a wi-fi router with USB input which works as DLNA server. So you can get rid of Roon and still use local library (external HDD) and Tidal.

May I ask, since you're getting the streamer from Magna, why didn't you choose one of there own? the Mano ULTRA Music Streamer for around the same price or less; they also have the new mkIII with a LPS for a little bit more, seems like a very nice piece for the price especially when buying w/o VAT.
Looking forward to hearing what you think of the RED, not just sound but also usability and connivence of operating. thnx

I got Red two days back, using it as DDC with my windows laptop right now.
However I am not able figure out how streamer works, followed these steps

1. Create the SD Card image
2. Disconnected the USB In (which I was using for DDC)
3. Connected the LAN cable into Red (after verifying with laptop)
4. Inserted SD card into Red
5. Power On Red

However the IP Scanner does not detect Red, please suggest if I am missing something.

Did you try inserting the SD card that comes with the Red?

I used 2different network scanners: Fing and First Row Network Scanner. Both found the Red after I installed the SD card. Did you try opening your browser and searching "red.local"?

Did try these steps not working, DDC works however.

Sending back to Magna for checking, round trip shipping cost from Dubai to Netherlands is not cheap
Will update back after they inspect and find the issue.

Did you also try rebooting the Red ? Disconnect the USB from The Red and plug in an i2s cable and reboot.

I do not have i2s, did reboot disconnecting USB and connecting to Chord MScaler connected SPDIF.
But it did not help

Install volumio or ropieee on another microsd card & use it instead of Red OS then scan the network.
Sometimes, the OS gets corrupted & fails to boot.
