Holo Audio Red Streamer

Thank you for your input, nice to hear about the I²S connection working straight out the box. There is allways a time period to let things settle, I´m in the half way in burning in my DI20HE and R-27 2021 so the Red can get in the line I´ll be using the USB out to DI20HE and I²S from there to R-27. Of course I have to test the connection straight to R-27 via I²S. It seems that my Red is at a place called Oirschot at this minute on route to Finland, hope to get my hands on it next week! Ordered from Magna.

I'll be interested to hear your observations comparing Red I²S out to your R-27 vs DI-20HE I²S out.

Yes when used as a DDC as on my PC I installed the Holo Audio Drivers.
In foobar, JRiver and Aimp, I select HoloAudio ASIO driver.

I received my Holo Red two days ago. I already packed my Zen Stream... This is a great little unit. Well actually it's bigger than I thought and much heavier. Built like a tank, like many has said before. It also plays much nicer together with my Spring 3 when used as HQP NAA. With Red in place, HQP doesn't lose the DAC connection as easily as it did with Zen Stream. I had to carefully turn on the equipment in correct order to make the DAC visible for HQP when I used ZS. With Red, there's no such problems. Also it sounds great, small but noticeable improvement over ZS.

Has anyone compared Red as a DDC against the usual top flight suspects like Denafrips Gaia/Hermes, Berkeley Alpha USB, AudioGD DI-20, etc?

I'm still waiting for my Red to ship, and I bought it solely to use as a DDC. I have a Gaia, so I'll be able to compare soon, but while I wait, just thought I'd ask.

try flipping the Red to the other device output and then HQP should show the Red rather than the enhanced. I believe the "enhanced" refers to the i2s interface.

I don't know what compute you're using but you might not be able to hit that high of a level (48k x512). Try 48k x 256 first.

All of the outputs(except USB) are active simultaneously, I would guess. I can test this tonight, with coax and optical to 2 DACs.

Yes it is. You can plug other dac to usb out and other to aes-ebu/optical/coax/bnc/i2s output.

I want buy Red but can't find information about driver to use Red as DDC.

I see online there really is no mention of the driver on the Holo Audio Red pages when using it as a DDC.
You use the the same one that is used with the Holo Spring and May Dacs.

I already had the Holo Audio driver installed for my Holo Dac before I got the Red.
I get the HoloAudio control panel with which the Red now comes up in it when in DDC mode.
So I thought it needs this driver for the ASIO part for your software players etc?

How do you get the ASIO drivers in Windows to select them in the software players?
Can see in my examples that I can select "HoloAudio ASIO driver". This I thought comes from installing the Holo Audio driver.
