Holo Audio Red Streamer

I'm using Red with TV setup (Apple TV as main source) with Ropiee OS that have ability to disable software volume + force lossless Airplay 1. Holo devs if you reading this please add these features to official RED OS.
It's currently the best quality audio I can get out of Apple TV, highly recommended! I tried many setups.
I would love to see HDMI eARC on RED that would be from convenience perspective perfect setup, because now Apple TV remote cannot control volume of my amp using IR because if it's connected by AirPlay it will only try to adjust volume of Airplay not a learned IR.

@Mavwong , would you be so kind to explain why you separate your "digital chain" on 3 parts (RPI4B + Gentooplayer CLTO kernal + LMS (upnp plug-in) -> RPI5B Diretta host + UPNP -> RPI5B + Gentooplayer CLTO kernal + Diretta Target ) rather than 2 parts? Why use RPI5B Diretta host + UPNP ? Isn't it possible that first RPI4B + Gentooplayer CLTO kernal + LMS (upnp plug-in) to be a Diretta host?
I assume it's some kind of isolation between the LMS server and the diretta host? Or LMS can't be Diretta host ? Sorry , too many questions :)
You can combine the first 2, meaning LMS and diretta host on same RPI. This is how I do at first. I did hear a bit of improvement separate out the LMS but that's when I was using RPI4.

Another reason I separate out the LMS server is I want to compare a RPI base server to a window base server. So I can switch between them easily not causing clash (both on UPNP protocol to host)

Hi, maybe a dumb question but here goes: how do I make backup of the "whole" TF card? The nuance is that the manual says that there is a "hidden" boot partition, which should not be touched (for Linux only), and to flash all firmware updates to the visible partition. Now, imagine I lose the card some day, and want to recreate the whole thing, how would I go about making a backup of the whole thing (and subsequently make a copy)?

I don't know what computer system you use, eg., mac, Windows, Linux, but all you need to do is make a .img of your card on your computer. This .img can be used to flash a new card that will be identical to old one. On Linux I use the Disks app on my computer to make the .img and then use BalenaEtcher to flash that image to a new card.

Edit: Just to add, with RedOS I never use the original card, I always use a copy that I made from the original image.

Hey, thanks man for your reply. Frankly, I have Windows, mcs both. But in the manual it says quite strongly not to format the card because of some boot partition that Windows cannot see (last pard of the update firmware section). I know for sure I can see what the other partition is from terminal but I'm a bit unclear about the partition situation. In my other experiences, the img file would make a copy of the redos partition. The other partition is what concerns me. Thanks in advance.

EDIT: @Axiom05 - please see this post from this thread. I think I am trying to do this. Post in thread 'Holo Audio Red Streamer' https://www.head-fi.org/threads/holo-audio-red-streamer.965665/post-18000502

Please remove if inappropriate.

I am based in the UK and I am looking to buy a Holo Red from Elise Audio (https://eliseaudio.com/products/holo-audio-red), which is a rather new company. Has anyone had any experience with them so far? Are they OK to buy from?

many thx
Hi

Never heard of Elise audio but this has nothing to say.
I just ordered mine at https://magnahifi.com/ It's the official distributor of Holo Audio. They are from the Netherlands. I mailed yesterday and today a lot with Jos, one of them. Absolutely great shop and person. I read a lot about Magna Hifi here (and in other forums), so that's why I choose them.
Perhaps it helps ;-)

Elise is excellent. I can definitely recommend them.
He has some sharp pricing, but not clear if UK VAT of 20% stated to be included in the website price for UK residents gets deducted at checkout for exports (it wasn't obvious from a casual kick-off the checkout process) - does it? Otherwise in countries like mine with similar VAT on imports it's a significant double whammy.

Thanks for the reply.I don't use diretta, but I also have good experiences with separating server (Roon Rock on NUC or GP LMS on Rpi4) and player/streamer (Holo Audio Red/GP or Rpi4/Allo DigiOne Sig./GP ).

Do you think CM5 will be compatible with the Holo Red components ?
Out of curiosity if the new CM5 is compatible w/ the Red, what would be the benefits of it over the current module?
