Great! How is your AB compare result ?
And, your comments on the Laiv Harmony dac ? I am interested.
Tchan, I commented on my opinion on the Laiv Harmony Dac on the Harmony discussion string before, but the short version is, I returned my recently bought Cyan 2 to keep the Laiv. Unsure if my preference is driven by the presence of OS on the Laiv Harmony while the Cyan 2 is NOS or what, but I preferred the Harmony. Pop over to my other comments on the comparison if you like in the other discussion. I'm no pro here, but the Laiv Harmony outperforms the Cyan 2 and my portable option, the RS8. If you were asking about the clock comparison, like I said, no pro here. I've settled on using the clock in the Holo Audio Red. I certainly hear no jitter this way, but Goldensound's evaluation will be the real answer here.

My new Holo Red has arrived. I've unboxed it, connected power and USB cable and that's it. I haven't bothered with the instructions. Is the SD card in it and ready to go or not?

SD card should be in the package but it does have RedOS installed. Stick the card in, boot up, find the Red on your Network, check for updates, select input mode and you're ready to go. However, I would make a backup image of the card before doing any updates and maybe flash a new card and save original as an added backup

What should the volume control option be set to?

Red USB out is connected to May USB in. May RCA outputs to my LTA MZ3.

Running Roon. Roon sees Red. No audio heard through my headphones.

Thoughts?

Looking at the manual, it seems I need to enable USB. How do I do that? The manual instructions don't match what I see in the Red control screen.

USB redirector is for use as a DDC. There should be a drop down menu under USB to select the May USB input, can't remember what it is called but it has an un-obvious name.

If you don't have a Holo Audio DAC then the USB choice will be the one w/o Holo Audio in the name. For May DAC use Holo Audio UAC2.0 Gen2.1 Enhanced.

I don't have a USB option to select. Only Red Native.

The USB cable is definitely connected between Red and May. USB input selected on May.

I power cycled May, refreshed the browser and the USB option miraculously appeared.

I am now cooking on gas.

Goodness me, that was a lot of fannying around.
