Lumin U2 absolutely magical.

Unfortunately, having issue with Lumin USB to Holo May dac—won’t work so using coax cable.

Anyone else having usb connection problems between Lumin & Holo products?

Crossposting from the Utopia thread:
I read today about the MSB Select II, which has so much output current flowing through the dac modules that it doesn't have an output stage and can even drive headphones directly from the dac output.

Since the Holo May has a full class A output stage with a single ended output impedance of only 13.75 Ohms, I figured maybe I could try driving some of my sensitive cans directly from the May's RCA output. With a Frankenstein construction of adapters (RCA -> 3.5mm male -> 3.5mm female-female -> 3.5 to 6.3 adapter -> Utopia stock cable) I can now report this works exceedingly well! I'm using HQPlayer volume control to get the output volume down -22 dB.
At 94 dB SPL the Utopia needs 1 mA of current and only 0.1 mW of power which I'm hoping the May can provide (It drains 60 Watts of power so at least some should go to that output stage haha).
With absolutely nothing (except some janky cables) in between the dac output stage and the transducers, i'm getting an extremely clean, noise free dynamic sound

Can anyone offer guidance?

my aries g2.1 streamer worked well with my holo may dac - no issues.

However when connecting my Aries streamer to someone else’s holo may dac the usb connection would not work. Other dac inputs did but not usb.
He was previously using his holo may with a Melco streamer with no issue

has anyone else had this experience?

@Shmuel did your recent experience with Holo/Lumin shed any light on this issue?

So for anyone who hasn't yet, I'd strongly recommend trying the new HQP 5 DSD modulators.

Previously my preference remained with PCM on the May, but with the new improvements, I'm preferring DSD.
The ASDM7EC-Super 512+fs modulator in particular is astounding.

Try both Sinc-Mx and Sinc-L though. Sinc-Mx can provide some better spatial info/timbre in some tracks but Sinc-L is more incisive.

Yep spring 3 settings should be the same.

For DSD you need to make sure you're using ASIO. WASAPI can't do native DSD transfer (Can use DoP though)
