A friend of mine is getting an operation on his knee too, he broke a few ligament the other day and need surgery. I hope you and him both get back on your feet soon.

Hirsch, it's nice to know that the operation went well. You will have to add a half inch to your height the next time you get a driver's liscence!

OMG, I just figured it out:

Hirsch calculated the timing of his operation very carefully.

Data: his operation was on a Wednesday.
Data: new release day for DVD's is Tuesday.
Data: prognosis for recuperation time was about two weeks.
Data: the week after his operation, there wasn't anything really good coming out.

I think Hirsch timed his operation so that he missed as little as possible WRT new DVD releases.
