HiFiMan ISVARNA Closed Back Hybrid

Nov 2, 2024 at 10:26 AM Post #32 of 112
The positioning of HiFiMan ISVARNA in the HiFiMan ranking is of interest.
ISVARNA will be between Audivina and HE-R10P.
Or will HiFiMan ISVARNA be the company's flagship in the list of closed headphones?
Don't be fooled by Hifiman's pricing.
Even if the Audivina costs less than half the open-box price of HE-R10P, they both are pretty close in terms of performance.

Without listening it's hard to say, but something tells me that this new Hybrid will sound better than both Audivina and HE-R10P.
I will buy the Isvarna after a year or so when the price goes below less than half the MSRP.

Very well noted, but sometimes HiFiMan needs to release 3 revisions of headphones to hit the target. For example, as it was with the HIFIMAN HE1000.
Also, for me, a dynamic driver usually sounds slower than a planar one.
but something tells me that this new Hybrid will sound better than both Audivina and HE-R10P.
The first reviews confirm your assumptions that the new driver HIFIMAN (Stealth Magnets technology) improves the sound quality (timbre, dynamics, detail and space). But, this trend does not automatically apply to ISVARNA, due to the fact that it is a hybrid.

This popped up on my feed - Introducing HIFIMAN ISVARNA (English auto-translate closed captions available)

The oval subwoofer reminds me of the oval low-frequency drivers that Golden Ear uses in their towers-
Great minds think alike?

I'm worried about how bad the reflections and resonances will be in that metal earcup if they don't put some damping material in the production version.

They barley put any in the he-r9. But I feel like it gives the bass a certain "texture."

There is a typo on this image.
It says "Impedance: 160" but it should say Impedance: 16Ω!!!!!!

Big difference!!!!!!!

Yes. As I mentioned, It's translated by Google. It has a hard time dealing with the symbols.

In this video, participants compare the sound of HIFIMAN ISVARNA with the sound of HIFIMAN НЕ1000, this is good news.
I have a first impression (perhaps it is false) that HIFIMAN ISVARNA is a half-closed model and there is a little probability that the sound of a low -frequency dynamics will be heard by others.
At the moment, I personally have a greater interest in comparing the quality of the sound of closed models, primarily between HIFIMAN ISVARNA (if it is a really closed headphone model) and HIFIMAN HE-R10P.

Therese is a photo of the Isvarna in the Canjam Dallas thread from this weekend. Someone must have tried them already.
I did try them briefly … I did not get enough head time to say much more than this: they’re DEFINITELY a pair I want to hear more, and probably, to buy, but I’m not going to be an early adopter — I know even their very successful models invariably take steep price drops over time, witness the Arya Stealth.

Also, I just bought an Audivina and a Liric so I have to pause for a bit 😂

It definitely sounds nothing like any of the HiFiMAN closed backs I’ve ever heard before (Sundara Closed, Audivina, HE-R7DX, HE-R9, HE-10RP Stealth), and I remember definitely being wowed by the bass — but I didn’t have a chance to listen to my music with it as I was using their tablet on that go around before coming back to their exhibit and recognizing I should use my own iPhone and CMA18 portable DAC/amp, so I wasn’t able to properly get the sense I needed to with my music, on the Isvarna — it was quite popular and often in use.

But I definitely plan to hear it again — and I suspect to buy one eventually, but only once it’s not the full beginning MSRP. 😅
