Hi guys I have a pair of shure se846 and had the chance to get a hifiman hm901s or ak120ii..any recommendations?

I think that there is a big chance that if you post the same question on a AK thread, people will recommend the AK120. In this thread most people will probably recommend the hifiman.

Having said this, I am obviously biased to the hifiman 901/s, I haven't heard any AK, however, I read a lot previous making my decision. I decided purchasing the hifiman 901s DAP. At the time I was looking for the best DAP for my HD600. You are looking for the best DAP for your se846. After a while I decided to purchase other headphones and IEM, so the hifiman wasn't only for my HD600 any more, but for almost anything I can throw at it.

What I am trying to say is that the hifiman 901/901s is probably the most versatile DAP ever created. I currently use the standard amp card and my favorite, the balanced card. Plus, I know I can buy other cards if I wanted to.match other headphones and to give my DAP a different flavor.

I use my hifiman 901s to listen to my grado 60, shure se215, sennheiser hd600, focal spirit pro, oppo pm-3 and last but not least my LCD3.

I know this a very biased opinion, but according to many people, the hifiman 901/s is probably the best sounding DAP, plus the versatility of swapping amp cards. That is a winner to me.

I hope my super bias :) opinion helps.

Thanks again to Nakedtoes for the 2.0003 firmware.

For some unknown reason, i am getting an update interrupted message during the update process. I followed the instructions but still cannot downgrade my 901S.

Anyone have any ideas what I might be doing wrong? My SD card was formatted as FAT32.

Thanks

Did you try re-naming the zip file? The name should be just "update"

Also make sure NOT to decompress the zip file. The file should be "update.zip" and not put in a folder. I think only standard SD cards can be used for updating firmware. Formatting a SDXC card to FAT might not work.

I renamed the file to update and tried to downgrade but still no luck.  also tried formatting the card to FAT, FAT32 and still no luck using any of those formats. Only thing I can think of is the SD card itself is faulty?

Maybe I will buy another SD card and try again.

Thanks all for your help.

It worked for me in my fist try. I turned the 901s off going ti settings/power off. Then I just followed the instructions. I assume you turned it off fist. I think of the 901s is in sleep mode, the update won't work.

If I was you, I would try to download the firmware again and make sure that your browser doesn't decompress (or touch in any other way) the zip file.

If you have to rename the file, then something's wrong.
