Got the replacement unit..... this thing is DOPE.
I'll be sure to share some impressions later, it sounds great so far. No issues listening through LDAC BT or USB DAC mode on android.
Now, I'm having an issue scanning the music off SD card. Installed apk HIFIMAN Remote app, no problem there. With both Wireless and OTG method, SD card compartment light goes pink for exactly 43 seconds while it's "scanning". However then the light goes out and the unit shuts down. Tried while connected to charger as well- unit basically turns off for a moment, restarts but pink light on SD card compartment goes off. It keeps scanning (i left for 30mins) and no results. For Wireless mode, it always says 0 files and 0 folders found.
- tried 64gb (fat32) and 512gb (exfat) cards
- tried with bluetooth connected (steady blue) and with bluetooth disconnected (blue flashing)
Without the scan, I seem to unable to access device info in the app such as firmware version, etc.
Please help me to troubleshoot this, folks- I must be omitting or doing something wrong

@povidlo did you format the micro SD as FAT32?
Edit - I see now that you did.
You could try putting the latest firmware on a micro SD formatted as exfat and update it.

Thanks for your help!
I didn't fresh re-format, but I already have a 64gb microSD card formatted in FAT32 with some CD FLACs that I've been trying with.

Try updating the firmware as I mentioned above. In case yours came with an older firmware. Only that latest version from January supports playing from the micro SD.Thanks for your help!

I'm following these instructions and nothing happens. Blue light just keeps blinking and the file is still on the cardTry updating the firmware as I mentioned above. In case yours came with an older firmware. Only that latest version from January supports playing from the micro SD.

"Copy HMOLRDFW.IMG to the TF card, insert it into the HM1000 player, restart the machine, and the upgrade operation will be automatically completed. After the upgrade is successful, this file will be deleted automatically."
I think firmware should be up-to-date since unit's quality control was dated March. But cannot check firmware version in the app unless media scan has been done - is that normal?

Yes. The micro SD you use for firmware update has to be exfat.
First I use firmware in exfat format go into hm1000 and then music files is in fat32 format.I'm following these instructions and nothing happens. Blue light just keeps blinking and the file is still on the card

Owing an R2R2000 is really disappointing to see such issues
At this level Hifiman should be setting the example, not presenting a half baked product with multiple SW issues. I'm out as I'm not remotely interested in a slave device to a Smartphone.
If Hifiman returns to producing a stand alone DAP I'll revisit, if not there are other solutions....

Maybe. I received mine on 9th of April and it had the latest firmware installed. You need two DIFFERENT micro sd cards to get this working?!![]()
Or, just one- formatted to exfat for firmware update, then re-format to fat32 for musicYou need two DIFFERENT micro sd cards to get this working?!![]()

Anyhow, it has been worth the hassle. It sounds amazing. It's not the most intuitive device but getting really easy to use now that I know what I'm doing.
Older version one don't need 2 type format. But i dunno why they change it.You need two DIFFERENT micro sd cards to get this working?!![]()
Of course you can just use one card but need to reformat and transfer your music files.Yes is abit hassle. But for the sound i dont mind.
