Still getting very good life out of the battery for the 901. There was the original battery with a few problems but now it recharges and keeps going great and holds a good charge over time.

I recently had my two batteries replaced under warranty as they were expanding when charging/discharging.  HIFIMAN's support is top notch!

Hi guys, back with my report on the scroll wheel issue. Went back to the store and tested out the demo HM-901, seems like its scroll wheel was just as unresponsive as mine and we concluded that it was normal. Just glad it was not a manufacturing defect.... I ended up auditioning several IEMs and ended up leaving the store with a pair of Westone W40 lol ... Surprisingly, my RE-600 + the HM-901 balanced output still has a much larger soundstage.

Good to hear you got it sorted out.

RE600 actually pairs extremely well with 901+balanced card.  It project sound stage as accurately and with as much spatial cues as I have ever heard from any IEM+DAP combo.  You can try all the totl IEMs and you'd eventually find the staging that RE600+901 balanced card provided is unparalleled.

I'd have to agree with you. I've paired Shure535, Westone W20, W40, W60, Aurisonic ASG-1/2 and Grado GR10 with the HM-901 at the store but somehow the RE-600 just shone above all with its imaging and soundstage. I'm still surprised at its audio performance given its just a single dynamic driver. The only IEM that matched the RE-600 in soundstage and separation was the 6-driver Westone W60 which was easily twice the price!

The only IEM i had that gives wider staging and separation is my Tralucent 1plus2 or the Ref1 and they are a few times more expensive than the re600.  I don't normally recommend re600 to others as it does its magic mainly with the 901+balance card.  But for 901 owners they should really try it.

Yes, the RE-600 is a really special pair of IEMs... Although isolation leaves a lot to be desired. What's your experience with tip selection? Could you recommend something with high isolation? Guess I have been spoilt with my ER-4S :p Thanks...

I find the placement within the ear for the 600's critical and you have to find that point with some experimentation but once you have it you know to repeat it without difficulty each time. I use the small tips and seat them fairly far in but not too far or you lose some of the air to the recording, the transparency. they are well worth working with. And yes, balanced with the 901 they are very fine.

I have been a user for solely ER4S, ER4PT. After I bought the RE600, I think the RE600 best. Only problem is isolation and I am still looking for the most suitable isolation tip. RE600 need quite a number of burn in. Frankly it is very very gd on my 802 & 901 with Discrete card. I am not a person into balance card. To me, the Discrete card is better than the classic, IEM and mini. It is very all rounder card.

Same here, been using the ER4S for many years.... But now i much prefer the RE-600. However, I do find occasionally that the RE-600 has too much energy in the treble. I find the ER4S reproduces classical music and instruments more accurately. Rachmaninov's piano concerto no. 2 sounds a lot more closer to what i've listened to in a concert hall, the ER4S reproduces the piano a lot better than the RE-600. Same for Dave Brubeck's 'Take Five', the trumpets sound a tad too sharp on the RE-600. Its a lot more natural sounding with the ER4S. Therefore, I now use my ER4S only for classical music and the RE-600 for everything else :)

I'm not sure if it's just my placement but I find that the foam tips degrade the treble and mids. Would you know of any 3rd party silicone tips that are bi/tri flange?

I use the provided triple flange with good results. :)
