So 128GB cards work now? Can anyone tell me about how to format them on a mac, i have an SD card port.  Read FAT32 format....?  Also what cards are compatible and what firmware level.  I am using    .19

Thanks for any info.  Kinda tired of a pocket full of 32GB cards.

I have the above 128 Lexar on Rockboxed dual boot (.19) and it works with no problems. I'm also on a mac and formatted it through Disk Utility to FAT32. I use a cheapo card reader to transfer from mac to card, again with no problems

Hi.
Can you explain please, what you mean Rockboxed dual boot ?I understand that you have a HM 801,haven't you?
I have desktop and laptop with Win7/64bit.
Finally, are you satisfied with your mod,so as to do it for my player? And is it easy to do it?
In case that something goes wrong,is it easy to go back to reset to factory settings?
Regards,
Theodore.

Dual boot - switch it on and Rockbox fires up, switch it on whilst holding any other button and the original firmware fires up.

I'm very satisfied with Rockbox on the 801, I think I would have sold it otherwise as the original firmware annoyed me every single day. And with Rockbox I don't have to convert my ALAC files to FLAC, + playlists + gapless etc, etc.

If you follow the instructions you should be ok:

Ressurecting an old thread but I thought it worth it as there are some refurb 801's coming on to the market now.

I purchased a class 10 Retail Plus 16g SDHC card yesterday (it was only $10 from my local computer store so I thought if it does not work in the 801 it will do for my camera!) and once formatted it works perfectly in my v23 801.

I've tried the following cards, they all worked fine with HM-801.

I used miniaide FAT32 (http://download.cnet.com/MiniAide-Fat32-Formatter/3000-2094_4-75701815.html) for this, with no issue.
Note that Guiformat did not allow me to format up to 128 Gb (64 only).
My PC runs on XP.
