Anyone have a link to a 3d model for the grill? The ones on eBay are pretty overpriced I think nearly 50$ us with shipping.

Greetings just wanted to ask the community if Hifiman still has the quality problems with he6 drivers, because after reading may reviews of it could fall right into my sweet spot. But im not willing to spend 1.8k for a new one and not shure if should buy a used one with some of the reported quality problems.
So now im asking here because im not shure if the reported quality issues are from the first run or if Hifiman still hasnt maneged to build this phone to a decend standart o_O

edit:
and if the quality has improved is a jot 2 enough to drive it to statisfation if you have first hand knowlege?
thx Ben
as far as quality of the new drivers? hard to say, the SE hasn't been out long enough to say if the drivers will last. On a good note, not many has mention drivers going out.

For normal people, the jot2 is enough power. I've driven these headphones with a Jot 1, a 80wpc speaker amp, a 90wpc vintage speaker amp, and now a ragnarok. All has been very good. If you have a speaker amp laying around, i would suggest using that with a good DAC. if not, the Jot2 is a good choice. Anything with 3-4w into 50ohm is good enough.

edit: one thing about these cans, they dont match well with a cold bright amps. It pairs better with neutral warmer amps.

If I were you I would wait for adorama to sell them for $700 range (whatever they were selling at) and at least get a year warranty. I'm guessing the ones that fail fail relatively soon but who knows.

yeah would be my course of action if i would live in america, but i think if i ship it to Germany with tarifs and shipping im quickly over my 1k buget :/

- XylefMTG for your oppinion on the driveablity of the He6 and thx to your reply i remebered i still have an old Yamaha Amp in my Atic somewhere, so if pusg comes to shove its time to dust it off and make another cable for a Hifiman or do i need the Hifiman Adapter Box because the impedance missmatch for the speaker output

- thx for the reminder with the DAC chillaxing -> was thinking about upgrading to a Schiit BF2 after reading some reviews and using my Zen Dac in my office space

otherwise thx for the quick replies to my question

no adapter box needed. Go through the images, i made some connector bought from amazon with single ended output. someone else made some that were balanced, I would go with the balanced.

I have a Denon 3500x, could I use this with the he6se? Which speaker out would they go into.? I'm also looking at the a30 pro as a cheap desktop solution
I bought a Hifiman HE-Adapter box "just in case", I've heard that others simply connect up their speaker terminals "raw" to their HE6's and let the AMP deal with the mismatch, they say it sounds better...IDK, I'm not happy about driving my AMP into a greater than 2:1 mismatched load. And, I want to get a tube amp long-term, where I heard the HE-Adapter is best used.

In case you are interested, it wasn't easy to find an HE-Adapter in stock, here's where I bought mine, they are still listing it as in stock:
https://www.analogueseduction.net/headphone-amplifiers/hifiman-he-adaptor.html

I am still looking for a low wattage amp...around 10w-25w, under $1000 including shipping (from China, no doubt) if possible. :)

Here is a photo of the inside of the HE-Adapter. It would be easy to get the parts+connectors to DIY your own, but the HE-Adapter box makes a nice sturdy base to hang the parts...instead of a strewn wire mess. :)

Ahh, here is where I saw that statement about SS vs tube amps + HE-Adapter:

"FYI, if you have a solid state amp that's less than 100W, you don't need the HE adapter. If you have a tube amp, you must use the adapter. I use speaker tabs out of MHA100. No need for HE adapter."

Also from that post is this cable link, but picking the options for a 6' cable it costs $189!!, the HE-Adapter was half that...and I've already got the XLR 4-pin headphone cable(s), all I need are some speaker wires with lugs+plugs, and a nice Tube AMP around 10w-25w.

A little further down on that page is a photo of the HE-Adapter hooked up in use:

Really appreciate the informative post. How was shipping from https://www.analogueseduction.net? How long was the wait? Coming from UK, right? Thanks again!

It didn't take long really, from UK to SF, CA. I ordered late on Feb 3rd, and it was processed to ship out Feb 4th, their local post received it Feb 5th, and I received the parcel Feb 13th. The shipping charge was £15.83, for a total charge of £90.82, which showed up as a $129.68 charge from PayPal. :)

Just received my HE6SE open box from Hifiman, but out of the box I immediately missed that bass punch the OG HE6 gave, after further inspection I noticed the bass from the left driver was noticeably more powerful.

What I can see with my eyes is that the gap between magnets and the diaphragm on the right side is very small, looks like they are touching..

Also tried to measure the decibel with a random app from AppStore which also shows frequency

Right driver:

Left driver:

Is this normal? Something I could fix myself?

EDIT: Could burn-in matter? Have anyone else experienced this?

yup, rag 1. Got it 2 weeks ago and I'm loving it. Perfect for my desktop speakers and the SEv2. It is a little under powered if your sitting far from your speakers. Also, thing get really warm. Might have to put it away for the summer.

The modius is no joke. I thought it was just all hype after reading all the reviews, but it is the best dac at this price range. Kudos to schiit for putting something this good for $200. Dont see myself looking for another dac for awhile.

I love my Rag 2 because I can run my dac, turntable, and tape deck into a single amp, and then use that same amp to output to speakers (KEF LS50 Meta + Rythmik F12) and headphones. I love the simplicity of a single unit for all of that. And it sounds great with HE6SEV2.

Would love to get a DAC on balanced inputs as much just to free up RCA inputs for something else. I'd love a Schiit Mani with balanced outputs for the same reason... just to use the balanced inputs on my amp. I'm a newb tho, maybe this makes no sense.
