Also keep in mind that if you use a very high wattage amplifier, most times they are meant for very high impedance headphones (or very low sensitivity ones), and because of that, the output impedance will also be pretty high. With the very low impedance that the HE400SE are at, they would sound pretty terrible. The rule of thumb here is to make sure your source output impedance is 8 times (or less of) what your headphone impedance is. Anything higher than that and you start to change (very noticeably) the FR curve, and most times not in a good way. So for these, if your output impedance of your source is higher than 3.125Ohms, you will start changing the sound.

So would this be a good match then?: https://www.schiit.com/products/magnius

I am using my HE400se with an iFi Uno DAC/Amp. I like this combination. I would like to try it in balanced mode and am looking for the right cable. According to the iFi literature (technical note at https://ifi-audio.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/11/iFi-audio-xCAN-S_BAL-Tech-Note.pdf, linked to https://ifi-audio.com/products/uno/), the Uno end of the cable needs to be a 3.5mm TRRS or 3.5 pro (as described at https://www.head-fi.org/threads/some-common-headphones-plug-wiring-for-balanced-audio.875730/, which is linked to the technical note). Do you have a suggestion for such a cable? (I looked on amazon and could not find one; I also could not find an answer in this thread, although I may well have missed it in my short search.)

Your best bet would probably be to look around on Chinese sites like AliExpress since it's a standard proposed by Chinese manufacturers. The cheapest option would be a interconnect that adapts from a something like a 4.4mm to the 3.5 balanced. I found this one after a quick search that lists "3.5mm balanced" as an option, the the image looks like a regular 3.5mm ¯\_(ツ)_/¯? Probably message the seller and ask for more details before buying anything if the listing doesn't explicitly say it's a 3.5pro.

There was also this cable I found that lists "3.5mm balanced" as an option but has no pictures. It's also getting pricy.

Since that's a rather rare connector type most custom cable shops (Hart Audio Cables, Periapt, etc) aren't going to have it as a standard option, but they might be able to do a special order if you message them and ask. Most of them are pretty easy to work with but you might have to wait a while depending how backed up they are with orders.

Sorry I can't say "buy this cable, it works perfectly" but I think you should be able to find something that will work with some digging in the right places. Good luck!

Thank you very much for the suggestions. I am about to order the following: 1. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B09XK862QJ/ (4.4mm balanced male to dual 3.5mm), and 2. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0828K966Q/ (4.4mm balanced female to 3.5mm balanced male). This is more expensive than I would have liked, but I prefer to order on amazon for speed and ease of returning.

It has been close to a week with this headphone. My words are too exciting for me right now...

All I noticed is this headphone shines on low/comfortable volume with great power(HE-9 LE)

This headphone needs as much power as Arya V2. Don´t buy anything under.

Sound is so fluid/liquidy....elastic!.

I really hope Im in the honeymoon experience...still.

EDIT: Using stock Susvara/Hybrid cables.

EDIT2:
Stock AryaV2 cable beats Susvara/Hybrid/SE to my liking

That was not so good, I have converted again.
Does anyone else have the problem that one side is slightly louder?
Silly question here, but have you made sure both ears are hearing things equally? You could check it here, assuming you have another set that you KNOW aren't imbalanced. Just a thought. :)

Also, you could try switching the connectors for the cable and see if the volume issue follows the cable. If it does, then you probably have a cable or connection issue. Otherwise, you might have a dying transducer.

Since an idiot exploded a firecracker next to me at eastern, my hearing is worse in my left ear. When I turn the headphones around, however, I hear relatively evenly, which speaks for an actual imbalance. The cable is also not the issue.

If they are still under warranty, I would consider having them serviced (or replaced) if it is possible. I know it is difficult to source these things in Germany, but that might be your only option, short of using a volume balance (digitally, or an analog knob).
