My current gear is listed in my signature which is now located under 'about' since the new platform.
The bass on my Utopia is tight, clean & fast. I've also never experienced "bloated bass" while driving my Utopia with anything. Maybe there was an issue with the unit you heard?

There was two unit at the meet, one has a silver cable the other was stock I believe, both drove from chord Hugo 2. Also there were meze empyrean, hd800s and my hd820. If the hd800s was the most linear then the utopia is bloated for sure, there was noticeable more bass in it.

Nah, something wasn't right.
After attending both, CJNYC '19 & '20 events I would never judge ANYTHING that didn't impress me until I had the chance to demo it in home on my gear. I listened to the WA33 (which I owned at the time, and still do) at CJNYC '19 I NEVER even would've considered buying it, that's how bad it sounded. Why, I don't know?

are you a bass head? my reference was the HD800s, I consider that as the reference, anything more than that is to me bloated.

I still have it and live it. I just upgraded to the new MDx digital board and it took the M3h to even a higher level. I know it will sound like a cliche but it is true, I listened to songs that I have listened hundreds of times and heard details I have not heard before. Also the air between instruments and vocals is greater providing a more 3D soundstage presentation.

A good friend of mine just got one without the headphones option and his comment is “The M3 plays at a much higher level that it’s price”.

Bricasti seems to fly under the radar here since they cater more to speaker users, but I'm glad to see their latest M3 offering includes headphone out. Combined with network card too it's a pretty sweet all in one solution. Certainly gives the all in one Bartok a run for it's money at 1/2 the cost.

I think you would be happy with both the VO and SE. The VO and VC aren’t too drastically different based on what I’ve read. The SE is completely different from the VC.

Agreed that ZMF Verite Open and HiFiMAN HE1000se are good complements. The first being for vocal-orientated, punchy and very well tuned FR and the latter being airy, detailed yet with a very well textured extensive bass!

My friend that bought the M3 had some people over and he had they had there and M21, M1SE and a Bartok. This was just when the pandemic was starting here. One of the persons bought the M21 and he was concern about spending money and bought the M3 without listening to it and now totally loves it.

If anybody is interested in buying a new M3h send me a PM.

Great I have two questions that I would be happy if you would answer :relaxed:.

1. How is the SQ from the Bricasti M3h as a pure DAC compared to the Bricasti M21 DAC and Bricasti M1SE DAC?

2. How is the SQ and power in the Bricasti M3h’ amp compared to the other dedicated amps you own?

1)All three have the Bricasti sound (musical). The M3h IMO is closer to the M21 sound. The M1SE is just a tad warmer sound than the other 2 that are very transparent.

2) Two of my 3 dedicated amps are high power. The other one is the MHA-100. The M3h is a fully diferencial balanced DAC including the headphones section. The balanced output has double the power than the single ended output.
I don’t own inefficient headphones like the Susvara or HE6 but I know it can drive them with no problem out of the balanced output.
With all my headphones I have never felt needing more power and the highest I have gone on the volume control is about -18db so a lot of room to spare.
Another important thing is it has very low impedance output so there is no noise issues even with IEMs.

if you want more information let’s not hijack more this tread and send me a PM.

Nice job, good luck w/ your channel. Having used both I'd extrapolate those comments to DAVE vs M1SE as well. Overall to me Bricasti has a more musical presentation w/o sacrificing much resolution.
100% ageee. I had the M3h and the TT2 at the same time. Both are great units but decided on the Bricasti for exactly what you aré commenting.
If you have a chance listen to the M21. It is a great sounding piece.

Bass is more complex than "too much" or "not enough".

800S - 800 has quicker more proper tone, and decay than the 800s; still 800S quick and good tone compared to most. Problem is impact and producing the tone in the sub 60 Hz area as it exists on the recording. HE-6 six screw and HE6se both blow the 800 and 800s away in that regard.

800 and 800s certainly have a reference headstage width and in non estat phones, the mid & treble definition is also near the top. In estats, the current models of the 007 and 0090, and the Voce crushes them across the board speaking of references.
