Hifiman Edition X

I am giving serious thought to adding the HE-1000 to my collection. Has anyone heard both recently?

I demod against the HEX before I purchased HEX. The 1000 are ethereal, light, airy, a bit further away and very smooth. They're less dynamic but more resolving. The HEX was punchier, more dynamic to me, and had better bass. He1000 just feel amazing with vocals, acoustic, or possibly classical but for other genres I preferred the HEX.

Very good to know, I will most probably get them in the next month or two. Hopefully that will be the end for me I pray haha.

Don't forget about the Edition 6 coming out soon. Only $6000.00!

Fang got grilled for this in the announcement thread

What's left is the highly cleaned up from the original chaos

Listened the edition 6 this weekend. It was by far the worst headphone, ever. Almost negative bass response. It was being played out of a $15,000 hifiman amp, too, with a rep present. Awful.

Yeah see more here: http://www.head-fi.org/t/833796/philly-meet-jan-29th-2017-impressions-thread/30#post_13220442

Everyone hated it. Was very disappointing for $1000 let alone $6000.

Rest in peace Hifiman, I was seriously considering getting the HE-1000s but after reading about the recent debacle concerning the brand value, and their exponentially increasing price, and their not so hot customer service, I am very inclined to go with the Sennheiser HD800S.

I have been very happy with my HD800S.  I demoed the HEX but it wasn't my cup of tea.

The Senns have been at the top of the heap for so long for a reason.  I have not heard the new Focal but for $4000 I am not buying it either.
