HIFIMAN Arya - Arya Stealth - Arya Organic :: Impressions Thread

Is there anything that can replace the Arya in most aspects? Ain't trying to spend that much on a headphone only for its defects to show, especially for us minimum wage audiophiles.
Focal clear and hd800s are something that you might consider. Those are the sub $1500 hp in the same category. If not, then the ananda is the next tier below the arya. If you wanna stick to planar, then you can also check out Audeze lcd-x.

Hopefully snagged an open box from the Black Friday sale. Paypal took the payment but still no order confirmation from the actual hifiman site so it's a little weird.
These will be my first "wide" or "tall" soundstage headphones. I own the Fidelio X2 and there are moments in games with phenomenal sound design or in well-recorded music when a sound effect will make me jump. I am sure the Arya will excel in that regard.

Looks to be a common issue with the Aryas it seems. Surprising, because I've owned 8 HIFIMAN cans over the years and never had issues with them.

Same story here, we had multiple at our office but no faults yet.

Ananda, it's relatively cheap nowadays, probably one of the most bang for buck headphones out there just looking at sound quality.

The Arya has really brought his music to life for me. These are songs I've heard hundreds of times. Unbelievable. Off the Wall is sublime. Rediscovering Thriller has been so much fun.

The Arya's ability to make everything sound good is rare to find among top-tier cans. At times I'll prefer it to more expensive HPs, particularly when recording quality is suspect (not saying anything about MJ, his recordings are quite well-done).

Hi
I am serching a otl amp that can drives arya
Someone can recomend me one?
I would like to kown if anyone cecks rme adi 2 dac with aryas.
I changed ananda for arya and I know it would seem strange .. But I was delighted with ananda and arya does not convince me
Maybe, Arya has more sub bass but less midbass, doesnt aound full. I think maybe ifi micro idsd signature doesn't work as well with arya as it does with ananda.
I think to try them with a tube amp or use the oratory eq with rme adi 2 dac if it can moves them.
As I have read with the oratory eq they have a slam similar to fostex th900 but with the detail of aryas

Cheers

Actually one thing that I never fully understand is that baring a few exceptions such as HE600 or Susvara, a ~$100 amp such as JDS Atom or Topping L30 will be able to power pretty much all Hifiman cans to deafening levels. So why do people continue to ask what can drive say Arya or Ananda? The answer nowadays is pretty much any decent amp.

I believe that these questions are asked just to be in 101% sure, which is not a bad thing :)

Because most folks on here know diddly squat about power requirements outside of what manufacturers tell them...which 99% of the time is sheer salestalk ‘You’ll need at least 2 times 2 watts with that planar big boy...but if you go for our top model that quadrouples the amount of juice you’ll be in 7th heaven!!’...and that’s effectively how Ananda owners end up with a Milo:p
Hell even peeps who’ve been here 10-15 years still don’t understand power requirements. The only constant seems to be ‘moar power = better sound quality’....which is entirely nonsense. Moar power equals more volume:wink:

Sufficient power to get "loud enough" is one thing but having enough power on tap for all of music's dynamics is totally different. I've had amps that sounded "loud enough" but when the bass hits or I turned up the volume past a certain point, they distorted or shat the bed altoghether. Having a few watts extra on tap ensures that all of my music's dynamics will be reproduced without distortion or strain. Coming from speakers, they sound so much better with a little too much power vs the distortion of not having enough. Same principle in headphones - Dynamic Headroom.
P.S., My jumpered Emotiva a-100 sounds much better, unrestrained, and dynamic than than my Schiit Magnius driving Arya, even though the Magnius has "enough" power.

I used to think the exact same things and often used many of the same audiophile words to explain differences between unit a vs b...until I tried listening to gear blind.
Have you ever tried listening to amps without knowing which one you’re listening to?
It is a very humbling experience.

What they said above more power does not mean sound better.

I had an Audio-GD FUN and while it powered the volume on the Arya well it sounded like crap. No control of the driver mostly lifeless sounding.
Schitt Heresey makes similar power to the FUN yet it breathed a ton of life into the headphone.

You don't need to spend a lot to get good sound (the Schitt is a $100 USD) but it needs to pair well.
