Regarding the open boxes, Hifiman's customer service told me that they are boxes only opened by customs for checks.

That makes sense because mine seems brand new.

With high gain mode past 1 o'clock it distorts, specially bass. With moderate listening level is pure joy to my ears

With RCA 6CG7 tubes it doesn't distort and SQ improves but soundstage gets smaller

Just in case someone is wondering, both Arya and Valhalla 2 are extraordinary products for the price (maybe Arya is a bit overpriced at MRSP). What we are talking here is possible impedance mismatch and that only at elevated listening volume levels.

Absolutely, they're both amazing I'd choose Valhalla 2 over Topping A90 (I sold it, waiting to receive Jotunheim 2) with eyes closed. The musicality of tubes and the monster detail, soundstage, texture of instruments provided by Arya... Amazing and cheap.

After hearing the Arya, the 1000se is my end game set of cans. I have heard so many great things and they are sexy. Also, I the sound of tubes with the Arya’s is quite close to perfection!
