You might have something called Tinnitus. When you hear ringing in your ear without a... objective cause (Ringing out of no where), then please goto your local audiologist to get it checked out.

You should look up on it... its really cool.

There are two types of tinnitus:

Subjective Tinnitus: The patient can only hear the ringing, no one else.

Objective Tinnitus: The clinician can actually also hear the tinnius if they hold a mic up in the ear of a patient with this problem.

Tinnitus is caused by a prolonged period of exposer to loud noises, or other rare causes.

If you want more info, just PM me. (Tell me how to check my PM first :p) if u want to get yourself checked out, see where your local hearing doc is

Welcome aboard!
I hope you don't get overwhelmed by all the questions.
Do a search in the forum for tinnitus and you will find several threads dedicated to it. It seems a lot of us have it. I am one of the sufferers.

I'm not gonna ask you anything. You are here to enjoy yourself, not pass out advice.

An audiologist and drummer, that made me chuckle.
How do you balance artistic sensitivity with protecting your hearing from those percussive hits?

I often times play with either IEM's on or ear plugs while practicing/on stage.
But sometimes i do play without any ear protection (To ear the full dynamic's of my playing).

I know its kind of counterbalanced

but you gotta do what you gotta do.

you might have an ear infection man. Go to a local clinic to check it out. I can't really tell you any more because i can't diagnose it without having a look at them. but damn... get it checked man.

Well, it's been said that you come to Head-fi for some info and opinion swap on purchasing some IEM for your portable and leave with a $2000+ headphone set-up... Hence, Wallet beating!
It does happen to the best of us.
