I'm a newly budding audiophile who listens to a wide range of music such as Rock, Hip-hop, Rap, country, R&B, Jazz, alternative, some trance, and also like to use my 'phones for watching TV and movies on my Mac. Any recommendations for headphones with good all around sound and slightly better bass? All I have right now are some Koss Porta Pros and I need an upgrade. My budget is $200-$300.

Hello!

It looks like you listen to wide genre of music. I would highly recommend you the PSB M4U1 for your case. I am not so sure on what you mean by better bass since you come from Koss PortaPro which have a rolled off lows but if you need something more bassy than the M4U1 mentioned, if you can find the Momentum under $300, that's a very smart choice as well.

I can't find anything that beat the M4U1 at that price range! It's a very good pair of headphone for outdoors and indoors.

Hope this helps!

Hmm... I prefer the PSB M4U1 over the AKG K167 for almost everything. As I find the K167 bass a bit muddy and a it is less controlled in comparison. In terms of quantity, the K167 still wins. Same goes to the mids. K167 offer a bit more forward sound. All and all, I find the M4U1 offer better clarity throughout, and as well as imaging but for $117 for a set of K167, that is a real bargain!!

Thanks for all the recommendations. I haven't decided yet but I do have another question. Out of all these mentioned, which would probably be the most durable?

Check out the Audio Technica ATH-A900X
Digbuy is selling them for $154.99, plus tax and shipping (I paid $256 for me).
Not a "full" bass headphone, I like to think a more of a "quality" bass.
And they will work plugged into just about anything.
