So I bough some HD-600s second hand, they came with the stock cable but no 1/4th adaptor.  They sound fine with the 3.6mm plug but instead of buying an adaptor I would rather just make a cable with a 1/4 plug.  I don't really care if it "improves" the sound over the stock wire, as long as it sounds as good or better. I use them with a fiio e9/e7.  So what is some good cheap wire to use? Also In the  DIY cable gallery (which i asked this on but no help) I've seen different color and transparent connectors, does anyone know where these are sold? I can only find the normal black and red ones. Thanks.

These?  http://www.lunashops.com/goods.php?id=1898.  The normal red and black ones are only $6.50.

Lunashops has all the connectors you could ever want for a reasonable price.  Shipping times are long.  Not all plugs are authentic, but are of reasonable quality nonetheless.

As for a cable, Mogami or Canare mini starquad has been the standard recommendation for years.
