Can someone please help out with a source for ultra-thin (less than 2 micron) Mylar or any type of film?

The thinnest I can find is 4 micron PET. Stax diaphragms are 1.5 microns, so they must exist.

I don't care if it's Mylar, generic PET, or whatever, as long as it's less than 2 microns. I know they’re hard to get at retail quantities; the max I can afford to go is probably ~$500 if they require a batch.

I'm out of ideas and would greatly appreciate any help.

Thanks

how thick in inches is a micron?

i found 0.0005" at mcmaster carr, a search told me that that is 12 microns give or take a bunch of angstroms.

btw, 1 micron~0.0000393701us inches.

hmm, maybe i will look harder.

Reynolds plastic wrap is about 0.0005" (the hair on my hand is about 0.0015"

)

Thanks a bunch for the link. I'll try calling chemplex and see if I can get some of that 1.5um "ultra-polyester" (man that sounds sweet

).

The 0.0005" PET at mcmaster carr is exactly the film I tried using. 12um feels pretty thick actually. It has almost zero stretch, which led to zero bass. Food wrap was much better in that regard.
