Hi All,

I've owned a headamp ae-1 for a long time now, and the batteries have been dead for a couple years. I've emailed Justin over at headamp several times asking about what I should do, since the amp doesn't work if your batteries are dead, but he never responds. I guess since he has my money, i'm not worth the time... Can anyone who has had experience with the amp and it's batteries help me out? I've taken it appart and it seem like a custom hack that's been done with a lot of soldering a circuit board. Thanks in advance.

Sorry for not getting back to you.  Take it easy...the only email I see from you was from a few days ago.  And in that email you said everything was soldered to the circuit board.  GreatDane's pic clearly shows the battery is held in by zip ties.  I thought that was odd and wasn't sure how to respond at that time.

This is the battery pack that was used on the AE-1 and then the molex connector was added.

ok, I've edited this response twice now because each time i've been a little calmer. Thank you for the response. I'm sorry to have taken a jab like that, but I was frustrated because i'm sure I sent an email when the batteries first died (a year or two ago) and again recently. I also emailed about the upgrades that the old school AE-1 model I have was supposed to get (gain switches, and laser engraved labels), but I didn't get a response about that either and so, didn't get my upgrades even though I'm the original owner. I love my little amp, it's the only dedicated amp I own and the fact that I burned through the batteries in only a couple years of ownership should show how much I used it. I just wanted to get the thing working again. Tangentially, if I could get those upgrades at some point, that would make me very happy. Thanks.

Anyone (Justin) know the part number of that molex connector. Molex has a billion similar, but not quite the same, products. I'd be pretty hard to order without a part number to ask for.

I could probably splice the wires, but there's no way that I can tell to take it off the cable. That company Justin linked to does custom work, so if i can figure out what the part number is, i can just ask them to put it on for me. I'm going to try sending them pictures of it since they're the battery experts. It seems sloppy to me to do cable splicing on my own (laughing).
