Hi guys

I am looking for a pair of headphones for my daily commute on the bus (an hour each way). I have been using in-ear noise isolation headphones as they cut out the noise of arguing school children, drunks and general loud conversation. However I find them a little uncomfortable and the sound quality is not that great. I am looking for a pair of supra-aural headphones, with good sound quality and either good sound isolation (from the outside and to the outside world) and/or noise canceling. My budget is limited to around £70. I was looking at sony MDR-XB700 Extra heavy Bass Giant Headphones  but the sound leakages seems to be quite high. I listen to to a real mix of music from classical, jazz, techno to folk.

So shutting out the noise and a good range with little leakage, is what they need to do. Can any one recommend some headphones that fit the bill within my limited budget?

Many thanks for reading.

I am not sure if there is any supra-aural headphones that are good at isolating noise from the outside... and I doubt you can afford a good noise-canceling supra-aural headphone for only 70 pounds.

I might be wrong though, see how the other Head-Fiers will respond.

EDIT:

By the way, if you haven't, take a heavy look through joker's portable headphone shootout thread. You might find something suitable for your price.

The only supra aural headphone that I auditioned that offered good isolation is the HD25-1 II... but those are like $200...

I am glad you managed to find something to your liking in that list. I have never tried the AKG K81DJ, but you can trust joker's judgment for most part.
