Thought this deserved an update since I finally got my HF-1s back.
After calling them, Grado helped me out and repaired my HF-1s and they sound great again
.. There was some confusion over the phone as they seemed adamant that I had a HP-1000 (sadly no, I got my HF-1s back), but they just told me to send them in with some information, so I'm sure when they received my headphones they knew what to do. Got them repaired at no cost (aside from the shipping to them). Great!
So if anyone is searching with a similar problem, calling them is the way to go.
