Hi folks,

I love my Grado SR60s but they're just a bit too big for me to feel comfortable in walking around the city, going to work, etc.

And the iPod earbuds really aren't cutting it for me.

So I'm trying to figure out what to get for walking around town with. I'll be using a 4th gen iMod into a Meier Porta Corda. I'd rather get something earbuddish rather than something with a headstrap.

Here's what I'm thinking about (I have not heard ANY of these):

Koss KSC-75
Pros: cheap, apparently sound good, not overly-isolating
Cons: kind of dorky looking, not sure I'll like the comfort of earclips

Etymotic ER-4S
Pros: apparently they sound great
Cons: pricey

Altec Lansing IM716 (came VERY close to ordering these today)
Pros: apparently Ety sound at < half the price
Cons: silly "pod" and plug look fragile/flakey

CrossRoads MylarOne X3
Pros: good sound (as good as IM716??) for < $$ than ER4s
Cons: ??

With 3 IEMS above:
Cons: maybe a bit too isolating for safe city use. Also my only experience with in-ear phones was Sony EX71s and I found they made my ears kind of itchy and feeling like I needed to pop my ears...

And what I'm leaning towards:

Yuin PK1 or PK2
Pros: Affordable (PK2), "Grado-ish" sound, safe for city pedestrian use, comfortable
Cons: Pricey (PK1), "can earbuds really sound as good as IEMs??"

Some of you have experience with some or all of the phones listed above.

What do you think? If I go for Yuins, which ones?

Thanks in advance!!

John

Well let me start off by saying I have Grado SR-60's, KSC-75's, and Mylar Threes (X3's). I like all 3 phones for different things. I mainly listen to the SR-60's when I can, but when I am out and about the X3's sound good and are pretty comfortable. Why don't you look at the Igrado's if you like the Grado sound. They are the same drivers in a behind the ear configuration for less money. Sure they may look stupid, but they look a lot less stupid than SR-60's in public. I actually saw a guy with SR-60's in a mall the other day, even I had to laugh.

PK 1 require an amp to shine. Therefore, PK1 should work well with your iMod.

I use PK2 with Nano. Sound great!

I also recommend AKG 412P
not big, easy to storage, sound also cool. try it if you can.
